Good work, shame about the salesmanship

Amber "goes green" recently installed solar panels on our roof. The workmanship is highly professional and the products high quality. But... The sales pitch spoils excellent work. Let's tell the story clearly. Some weeks earlier, a salesman from Amber visited. He quickly determined we could place 4kW of panels on our roof, and proceeded to show that, even borrowing the money for the work at an interest of 10%, the investment would pay for itself so fast that savings would offset the costs of installation from day one. I understood, however, that our roof wasn't the straigthforward south-facing space that make solar PV an obvious choice. So as we were calling back the deal, he made an offer that tipped the scale and proved the seriousness of Amber: they would include the multiple inverters, needed to make partly-overshadowed roof to work, as part of the deal. Except that they didn't. At this juncture I made a mistake: I trusted the rep. I believed his statement that he had spoken to his technical colleagues and direction, and would act accordingly; I didn't get a written confirmation. Now that the Sun shines on our installation, I can bring in some clear description of what works. Contrary to the salesman's assurances, the roof is constantly overshadowed; but we knew that. Contrary to his assurances, mutiple inverters weren't installed. A 4kW system, in this condition, generates 500W of power - at the best of times. At that rate, the power generated won't pay for itself; but we knew that was likely. Without the multiple inverters, it won't pay enough for the *interest* of the loan to make the installation. So, an excellent installation, completely mis-sold by a man who was has been encouraged to make any commitment, however untrue, to obtain a sale. A great shame, because that undermines the work of an excellent technical team.

A very rude grabby double glazing company. They slam the phone down and should be avoided at all costs. Try and find a company that speaks English and offers some courtesy and service.
