Adze Contemporary Art Gallery

For me, as a long-time collector of fine art, Adze Gallery in York has been a 'must see' venue now for 5 years. I have bought several paintings and original artist prints from the gallery in this time and I have always found the service to be friendly and informal, yet professional and knowledgeable. The gallery champions quality collectable ORIGINAL contemporary works by well-known British painters, sculptors and ceramicists, rather than the rip-off so-called 'limited edition prints', by greetings card illustrators, which one is sadly all too familiar with on the high streets of the UK. Adze Gallery is one of only very few specialist selling venues in the North for reputable artists to show with, and attracts well-respected names from London and the South West. The caliber of exhibitions is consistently high. Their sister gallery, Minster Fine Art in the gallery owners house alongside York Minster - likewise is a first-class professional gallery. It specializes in representing ORIGINAL Modern Traditional works by contemporary and 20th-Century names: Norman Adams; Sandra Blow; David Hockney; John Piper; Graham Sutherland; Ben Nicholson, etc. I respect the galleries professionalism and eye for art, and would not hesitate to recommend to collectors, old and new alike. A definite 10 out of 10.

nice work. however, i felt pushed into purchasing something. the sales staff came across rude and demanding. not a nice environment! i will not be going back!

The owners of the gallery have an eye for art second to none and travel extensivly to find good examples of recognised work. I personally have four items from the gallery in the last two years. Wonderful quality pictures..a credit to any wall in any home
