  If you are in need of a pick me up then this is the place for you. The beauty treatments on offer here are first class. I haven't seen the Alquimia products elsewhere but the natural blends of essential oils certainly easy away your cares. Having treated myself to various products here I can recommend the back massages, facials and manicures. The staff are friendly and focus on your every need in a quiet and professional manner no idle chit chat here to spoil your relaxation just massaging away the knots. I have also had their waxing treatments and have to say it has bean the most pain free waxing I have ever had.

  Not one for over-priced day spa's, Alquimia is the perfect blend of beauty spa, hairdressers and even yoga and pilates centre. In short a little haven of healthy lifestyle, style and relaxation in the centre of York. Over 3 floors the hair salon is on the ground floor and 'therapy rooms' upstairs. The building is tradition 'oldie' york with stairs leading across landings in a confusion Escher-esque guise. But stay with your therapist who will lead the way up to the First Floor 'chill out' and relaxation room as you wait for treatment. If you are really lucky you'll be in the Aphrodite room that has a sunken bath and 2 massage tables. The scented candles are the perfect blend of subtle lighting and relaaaaaaaaaxing aroma. More ambiance, than over-powering annoying scent as is so easy to do on these occasions. If you have opted for one of the many massages on offer, i recommend the anti-stress back or hot stone therapy session, then you are in for a treat! The spa uses Alquimia products that are very high quality and means that there is a wide range of natural oils to relax, invigorate and ease those muscles. For haircuts and colours Phytology and Bumble and Bumble shampoo's etc sap aching heads and promote healthy scalps before what will be a fabulous haircut! i've never been disappointed by either cut or colour from the team here. Manicures and Pedicures are in the room attached to the First Floor 'chill out' area and you can people watch to your hearts content as york locals and tourists alike weave their way up one of York's most famous streets; Stonegate. A visit to Alquimia means unwinding, relaxing and time to be spoilt. The haircuttings not bad either! :D
