Would not have considered going into this dark and dingy 3 years ago. Not any more. This has turned into a right gem of an experience, catering not for the thuggish anymore, but for families and small groups. No more big screens, loud music and football, just an enjoyable atmosphere.
A lovely pub, friendly locals, chatty staff, and a great atmosphere. A wide choice of drinks, and thery serve food during the day too. Weekends can get busy. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Popped in for lunch while visiting York. This pub had the TV on and music playing at the same time, which seems to be the norm now days. The meal was enjoyable but nothing special and we had a choice of two 'real ales', Deuchars IPA & a guest beer. Not a bad pub for a quick pint and a spot of lunch.
