Northgate Sports Centre
Sidegate Lane West
Northgate Karate club is a friendly, well run and very reasonably priced association at which all ages and levels of Karate practitioner are made most welcome. The quality of teaching is exceptionally high and lessons are both varied and fun. I joined Northgate Karate Club at 11 years old and progressed well, making the most of the expert advice to make my way through the belts at a pace which suited me. The instructors will push you physically but understand the constraints of age and are more than savvy when it comes to fitness levels. It's truly a family club, with young children actively encouraged to take part in Red Dragons kids' lessons. You take from Karate what you are willing to put in, and under the guidance of Sensei Bill Williams and instructors Gerry Turner, Chris Stott, Steve Holland (and more) you will learn a vast syllabus which encourages development of self-discipline, respect and control. The club is also successful both regionally and nationally at competitions and is renowned for producing strong competitors, with a history of National Squad members. All in all, if you are considering joining a Martial Arts club in the area, you won't regret giving Northgate Karate Club a try.
We attend the club as a family and have trained there for 6 years. It has helped us all improve on our fitness and have made a lot of friends along the way. The club has a great togetherness. We all support each other whether it be at a grading or competition.
