If I could rate this with less than one star I would. I belong to a small toddler group and we decided to take them for a ride on the train to Beverley Westwood yesterday, afterwards we thought we'd reward ourselves with a coffee so went to Vanilla in Beverley. As soon as we entered I saw the womans face drop, (older woman with short dark spiky-ish hair) but she didn't turn us away so we carefully parked ourselves in one corner. When ordering the woman behind the counter still didn't manage to muster anything in the way of hospitality or a smile, or even basic manners. When my friend politely said that his order may have been wrong she gave a huffy response of "Well that's what it said on the packet" and might as well have thrown his money back at him when he asked for it. So much for the customer always being right! I thought perhaps that children weren't welcome, but then found toys and books there for customers use... At one point a young couple with pram started to enter and she was heard to say "Oh surely not more prams!" - probably why they didn't even come in....yet ours had never once caused any inconvenience, nor had she asked us to move any of them. I felt that we'd been treated unfairly so went back in to complain but rather than apologise she said it was "Just all the prams!"(which had never been in the way!) I replied that they and we were parked very considerately and that if prams weren't welcome there should be a sign on the door saying so. I was polite and to the point but still no apology. I'm through being polite now so suffice to say, the woman was up her own backside. Oh and the drinks were overpriced and dissapointing too!
I often stumble into Macs tools being sent for something by the hubby, and in typical fashion bumble about not really knowing what I need. The guy behind the counter (is that Mac?) always sorts me out and if he hasn't got something in, always recommends somewhere where I can find what I need. Lovin Macs tools!
Boots on Newland annoys me a little, here's why; I first went in with my newborn baby for some nappies- It's very difficult to get any kind of pram up the two large steps while trying to open the heavy door. It would be completely impossible for disabled folks. Then when I eventually did struggle in, I found they don't even stock newborn nappies, and in fact don't seem to have stocked many of the things I've been in there for since. The staff are polite enough, but you wouldn't be able to pass the time of day with them. They're just students earning a bit of money rather than a friendly face that you see regularly enough to say good morning to, if that makes sense. In a nutshell, easier access and better stock please!
