About

About Us...

Keswick on Derwentwater and the Northern Lakes covers one half of the Lake District National Park. This is the perfect area to choose equally for gentle relaxation or for an action packed family adventure holiday with lots of activities and attractions. The stunningly located town of Keswick, nestled on the shores of Derwentwater, has a wide array of shops, restaurants and galleries.
Explore the five major lakes, picturesque valleys and unspoilt villages with the mountains of Skiddaw, Helvellyn and Scafell all within easy reach. This is a wonderful area in which to try new outdoor activities or to extend your existing skills. Walkers and climbers are spoiled for choice. From the high summits to forest trails and lakeside paths, there are routes suitable for all.
Within such a compact area as the North Lakes it is very easy to explore the neighbouring valleys and secluded places. To the south, for example, you can enjoy the lakeside paths beside Thirlmere. To the west you can explore the delights of Whinlatter mountain forest.

More Information...

The attractive small unspoilt village of Allonby on the Solway Coast lies between Maryport and Silloth - 12 beautiful miles of coastline looking out to the Scottish fells and there are lots of parking areas - all free. The sunsets are stunning. Allonby has a shingle and sandy beach which has received an award for its cleanliness and safety.
There is a shop selling food, drink and sweets and their ice cream is renowned the county over and is a firm favourite with children and adults alike. There is a popular village green to picnic on and a good children's playground nearby. There are pubs which serve food, cafes, curio and bric-a-brac shops, fish and chip / newspaper shop, and post office.
Sports on the beach include kite flying and windsurfing (bring your own). The Spring Lea Leisure Centre has something for everyone - a heated indoor pool, sauna and Jacuzzi; games room with arcade games, pool tables and soft play. They also have a bar and restaurant with live entertainment. Every year in July Allonby hosts an Art Exhibition. For walkers the Coastal Way passes through Allonby and the area is popular for walking dogs.
