About Me

I qualified as a Management Accountant January 1994. Since that time I have worked as the senior Financial Manager in a number of SME's (Small & Medium sized Enterprises.) in Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and numerous other West Yorkshire locations. I get great satisfaction from helping a company and its owners achieve their maximum potential with the minimum risk.
I have worked in transport, manufacturing, services, retail and the motor trade. I have dealt first hand with all areas of finance including Payroll, VAT, Corporation Tax, CIS, Credit Control, Obtaining Finance, Accounts Production etc. I have helped start up and, unfortunately, close companies which also means I have a very good basic working knowledge of employment law and the how to avoid potential problems.
With my experience I know I can help you get better results by producing regular, meaningful accounts, promptly, which in turn enables you to make better, more informed decisions about how to grow your business, increase your profits and minimise or avoid any future problems.

Book Keeping

A business needs to keep records not only for taxation compliance but also to provide information that can be used to improve its performance. Complete and accurate book-keeping provides accurate information which in turn leads to better decisions being made earlier. I am able to provide the following services:
1. Run the ledgers, (Sales, Purchase and Nominal) including bank reconciliations.
2. Reconcile and complete VAT Returns.
3. Run payroll.
4. Complete end of year payroll returns.

Start Ups

When starting up your own business there are many things to consider and most people don't know where to start. This can lead to an excellent opportunity being missed before you start. I will help you by:
1. Assessing the potential for the business.
2. Advise on the best structure for the business.
3. Creating a business plan. This details what you aim to do, what you need to do to achieve the aim, what finance/investment will be required and when it all needs to be done by.
4. Notifying the necessary organisations e.g. HMRC, Companies House, etc.
5. Setting up a system that ensures you capture all the required data needed to run your business and fulfil all legal requirements.

Year End

Every Limited company must provide Companies House and HMRC with accounts and taxation calculations in a prescribed way. Also every Director and self-employed person must complete an annual Self-Assessment return. I will:
1. Produce the necessary calculations.
2. Provide advice on how to minimise tax.
3. Advise on how to show the accounts in the most accurate and beneficial way.
