Removing asbestos from a property requires the skills and equipment of individuals who have been highly trained in the task. At AEC Asbestos we ensure that all of our removal projects are carried out in accordance with the latest Health and Safety regulations and Asbestos Regulations.
Asbestos - a naturally occurring mineral - has incombustible and extremely strong properties, it was therefore widely used in the past for the insulation and fireproofing of buildings.
Since it has been discovered that Asbestos carries serious health risks, polluting both air and water. Silica dust from Asbestos has been linked to cases of chronic lung disease including mesothelioma, asbestosis and cancer.
Generally, there are two categories of asbestos survey to be considered;
Asbestos Management Surveys
Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys
The type of survey utilised required will most likely change over time. An Asbestos Management Survey may be suitable to start with, but if structural changes are to be made to a property, for example, an extension or new kitchen/bathroom being installed, or if it is to be demolished altogether, then an Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Survey will subsequently need to be undertaken.
Larger properties may require a combination of surveys; for example, in a large office block where one floor of offices will be undergoing refurbishment, it might require a Refurbishment and Demolition Survey, while offices on other floors not being refurbished will only need a management survey.
