Our work

Ahimsa is a fully accredited, local voluntary-sector initiative and is one of only a limited number of projects in the UK providing specialist assessments and programmes to perpetrators of domestic violence and linked support services for their partner/victims. The charity's core aims are: “By working in partnership, to contribute to public protection and the safeguard of (ex-)partners and children in particular; to support perpetrators of domestic abuse to change their behaviour and attitudes so as to achieve the safety of (ex-)partners and children and to support the well being of all concerned."

Ahimsa has been approved by the Department for Education as a provider of activities required by a Contact Activity direction or condition (Order) under the Children Act 1989 to deliver domestic violence perpetrator programmes. Ahimsa also provides consultancy and supervision to a number of other organisations in the field. We are fully accredited by RESPECT - the National Association of Domestic Violence Practitioners, one of only ten fully accredited programmes in the UK.
