did some research into all the local JuJitsu and Judo clubs and after having a good look around I joined AJJA in July 2009 and it is one of the best decisions i have ever made, I Decided to join a martial arts club mainly for fitness and confidence which have both improved greatly since joining, All of the instructors/Sensei's are extremely knowledgeable, very patient and always give you 100% of there attention, The classes are always well staffed which gives each student a great chance to get the best out of there training one of the best things is that you can train at your own pace in a friendly environment, When you join you get a full gi, belt and a joining folder with everything you need to know about the club, The club holds and enters regular competions and gradings which each student can enter if they want to with no pressure to enter at all, they also have there own Awards night/Christmas party which is great and offers a personal touch to the experience, If there is anyone thinking of taking up Martial arts come to any of our classes and have a look around and see what we do.

I first went to the club a few months ago just to see what it was like, I felt welcome instantly. Everyone no matter age or experience is helpful, friendly and patient. I was taken back by how much i learnt in two hours but equally by the positive atmosphere of the club. Techniques are taught tailored to the inidividual and you learn at your own pace, so theres no pressure at all, you get out what you put in so its really how far you want to go. Within two lessons i was hooked and have been going ever since. Each lesson is different to the next so you are learning all the time. I would suggest anyone interested to come to the class one night and watch or take part, its exactly what i did, I'm now a red belt and look forward to the class each week.

This club really offers the personal touch: welcome cards when first enroled and a jujitsu birthday cards each year.My daughter even received a get well card when she had a tonsillectomy! Paul and Elaine really care about their pupils. They gently encourage each pupil building up their confidence.Teaching is excellent; gradings are frequent and only taken when ready. Many additional badges are given out free to encourage pupils every step of the way and there is a 'pupil of the month 'trophy which is given to someone different each time,to acknowledge a particular acheivement, however small. Elaine and Paul also arrange a Christmas party for all their pupils where more badges and trophies are awarded for acheivements over the year. Having two daughters, I am particularly pleased that they are learning the art of Jujitsu, not only has it built confidence, it has improved their fitness and also offered them many techniques of self defence. This is definitely a club you, or your children, should try. The first 2 hour sampler is free. You then only pay as you attend each session. If you cannot make one week you do not get charged and you can choose to attend any of the other sessions offered that week.So there is great flexibility. Overall I would say that you couldn't get a better Jujitsu club.Friendly ,caring, encouraging with great teaching.Give it a try!

My son and 2 neices all attend the club on Wednesday night and all find it really enjoyable. Everyone is really helpful, they have made new friends and with help from everyone have gained a lot of confidence. So glad we found the club

The AJJA is a fantastic family run club that welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds and Martial Arts experience. Novice to Black-belt. The friendly, patient and knowledgeable approach to a students development is second to none. Both my children and I have found that not only do the Sensei's encourage and guide you but so do other students, regardless of their belt. In the space of just a few months we feel fitter, more self-assured and have made some great friends! - I just wish we'd taken it up earlier - Give it a try you might just love it too! Nick Prados
