I have been playing drums for 30+ years with various bands. Most of my work has been 'live performance' based with the odd studio recording session thrown in.
I started teaching in 2001 through a local music school then decided to set up my own Private school soon after.
I wanted to concentrate on a completely different approach to the standard 'music school' format of exams & theory and approach it in a more 'fun & relaxed' manner while, at the same time, applying the right dedication and attitude in order to get successful results on the instrument.
I cover everything from the total Beginner looking to get started right up to the more advanced player looking to brush up on their existing skills.
I cover all the following: Basic timekeeping and subdivisions, learning to use a metronome and getting into the habit of practicing with it, Basic Grooves & fills from all styles of music, Rudiments, Technique, Sight reading, playing by ear, Planning your practice sessions and approaching the gig, How to tune & care for your drums and applying correct ergonomics & posture while playing.
I can also cover Moeller technique, Linear playing and double bass if required.
All lessons are tailor made to suit each individual student as everyone learns at different paces and have varying strengths and weaknesses.
