Psychotherapy & Counselling for Change

It's just a conversation

It may sound scary, though I see it as just a conversation, with a difference that the therapist is focused on listening and talking about you instead of waiting impatiently for their turn to talk about themselves (as is the etiquette of any ordinary human exchange).

The most important element in successful therapy is the sense of understanding and respect between you and the therapist. Only then can you decide about the opening of difficult topics and make an effort to face them.
You can come together or just by yourself.

I help couples who feel they have lost the connection and understanding, by redesigning their relationship into a new, better working model, even if they think their relationship is beyond repair. We work on changing communication patterns, getting rid of the ‘baggage' from the past and finding shared values and passions that will take them through for following years.

I help couples struggling with intimacy to find their own way of expressing their love and sexuality with effective strategies and exercises, even if they think they can't possibly even talk to each other about it.

I help ex-spouses conflicted by legal battle over child maintenance and custody to find a way to amicably communicate over childcare and financial matters with effective conflict resolution exercises and re-framing their relationship, even if they think the bridges have been burned.

I identify the sources of miscommunication and work with you on improving the quality of your communication.
By understanding needs and fears of the other party you will be able to find a way of communicating which will be heard and understood.

By understanding your own needs and fears you will be able to “say what you mean and mean what you say".
You will learn about conflict resolution, and how to prevent a miscommunication developing into a conflict.

Work and Career Issues Counselling

Working life can be very rewarding and for many, is something that brings satisfaction, a sense of achievement, a social life and many other positive attributes, not to mention earning a salary. However sometimes we find that things aren't so smooth or that we hit a crossroads in our career or professional life.

Is it what you do that doesn't bring satisfaction anymore?

Is a perspective of changing careers even more terrifying than persevering and resenting?

Or perhaps you don't feel valued and getting recognition for your work?

Are you worried that you are not as good as your colleagues and you will get ‘found out'?

Are you happy with what you do but the environment is not conducive to being at your best? Are you being bullied?

Are you dreading Mondays and keep dreaming of “more ME time"?

Work takes about 80% of our ‘awake' time in adult life.

If such a large part of your life causes stress, anxiety, feeling inadequate, the other part will not stay okay for long.
Sooner or later the effects will start spilling on the other areas – your spare time, family life. You may feel it when you are not awake, or even worse, you may find your sleep time taken away by “work issue".

Therapy with Anna will give you an opportunity to discuss your worries in a confidential setting, with a person who has experience of working in a highly stressful and demanding environment.

Most of us spend our lives in our heads – not noticing the body, our faithful servant trying to catch up with whatever our minds decide is needed. It is only when we completely exhaust our bodies and they give up in protest (called flu, eczema, back pains) that we start to pay attention to its messages.

We now know that bodies have their own intelligence – patients with transplanted organs report changes in their tastes or reaction for some time after the operation, suggesting that the organ carries the traits of character of the donor. Trauma specialists agree that memories of the traumatic experience are stored by our bodies, and recovery from trauma and PTSD includes releasing those from the body.

Mindfulness teaches us to be aware of our physical presence, to notice how our physical and emotional states are interrelated and interdependent, and ultimately to keep our bodies healthy.
