After looking at my local competition I have notices that there a lot of national locksmith companies who are falsely claiming to be "local locksmiths". They employ several methods to appear local to an area. Firstly they provide a road name in the local town and in some cases register to a bogus or dead letter postcode. I found one local postcode that has over 50 businesses registered to it. I found another that had a plumber, an electrician, a locksmith, a pest controller and a sewerage expert all at one address (Big House Then!).Their second trick is to buy a local STD telephone number. After a little research I have found out that these can be easily purchased for any area and all directed to a central number. These "bogus locals" spend a fortune setting up websites, business listings and re routed telephone numbers. This reflects in the prices they charge for their services. If you want a real local locksmith I suggest you call them and ask them where they live. I do not object to national companies like Abel who provide a local locksmith on a national scale but I think that a man from Dagenam charging my locals 50% more than I would and taking 2 hours to get there is just not fair on customers and genuine local businesses alike.
