We supply locally and nationwide to arts and craft professionals, enthusiasts, schools, colleges and businesses.

About Us

Artscape has history. It is a combination of two very well known shops in Harpenden. Studio 35, offering art and craft materials plus framing services and Madesco, offering office supplies, photocopying and dyleline printing.

Studio 35 had a long history. Run from 1985 to 2000 by the Suharan family. Prior to that it was run by Geoff And Muriel Sanderson, who ran it as The Studio, and later as Studio 35. For 17 years they ran it as a photographic studio, selling, art and craft materials, gifts, toys, greeting cards and picture framing. For many years customers continued to ask if studio 35 took passport photos, which takes us to the previous owner ; it was known as C.Hallam, who mainly ran it as a photographic studio plus some other lines. But it always had art materials as one of the lines. Indeed an old resident of Harpenden seems to think that about 50 years ago one of the famous Mr Newton owned the shop at 354 High St. Winsor and Newton is a world famous art materials producer. Artscape is proud to be a Winsor and Newton Premier art Centre.

Studio and Art Classes

There is a Art studio on our premises that is in use for art classes and workshops. Classes and workshops are held and cover courses for novices, enthusiasts and the more experienced arts and crafts person.

Picture Framing

We here at Artscape provide an in store professional bespoke framing service. We have over 30 years experience and stock many materials from quality budget to museum standard to suit every individual need. We are able to frame everything from all the types of painting through to shirts, including sporting memorabilia such as cricket bats, balls, hats, gloves, medals and other items such as fossils, fans and papyruses. You name it, we'll frame it!
