About

About Us

ASTOR HOUSE
Astor House is a large Victorian house built in around 1890 from locally quarried Bath Stone.

Although it retains all of it's period features and character, we have recently redecorated all the bedrooms as well as the breakfast room and the sitting room.

Ideally situated away from the traffic, yet only mile from the heart of the World Heritage City of Bath. For those walkers amongst you, its just a 10 minute stroll to the centre.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Location

This a beautiful guest house situated in a quiet area and only 15 minutes walk from the very heart of Bath and all its historical sights, the Thermae Spa, restaurants and shops. It is open all year round.

It is an ideal base to discover Bath and the surrounding areas such as Stonehenge, Longleat, Wells/Glastonbury, Bowood, Cotswolds and Bristol

Astor House

Astor House is a family run business which provides you with a 'home from home' experience. Relax in comfort at this stylish Victorian home. Our attractive rooms have been individually decorated and offer courtesy trays with an array of beverages to suit all, colour TV and many other facilities to make your stay a pleasure.

Enjoy the delicious breakfasts which offers something to suit everyone's tastes (including vegetarian options - all diets can be catered for on request). There is a large walled garden which guests are welcome to use.

Situated in a peaceful residential area away from the traffic yet only - mile from the City centre and all its eateries, shops and historic sights.

Bath makes an ideal touring base for the historic sights of Bath but also for the many places of interest in Somerset and the Cotswolds. Astor House is centrally located for touring Stonehenge, Avebury, Bradford on Avon, Salisbury, Longleat and other delights just an easy drive away.

Astor House also has the advantage of on-site car parking as well as unrestricted parking on the roads in front of the house.

Me and my husband (newly wed that same day) booked the B&B for our wedding night as we were on a very low budget and had read positive reviews, sadly it was not as described! The room was decorated in the style and probably in the 1970's with everything really decrepid and old. The bathroom was damp and had a horrible smell, with the "complimentry toilitries" being cheap items sitting in stagnant water. The bedding had yellow stains on and was very old and shabby, Baring in mind we paid £70 for this room!We also found a screwed up dirty tissue under the top bedding.. with god knows what on, and some old makeup under the bed. The travelodge is cheaper and cleaner! We did complain to the Lady who owns it and she was rude and defensive, denying it was dirty and that the tissue couldnt have been there. She did knock £20 off the bill, however, then proceeded to gossip about our complaint whilst I was waiting in the foyer, claiming we were lying! Unproffessional, if you like outdated, shabby and dirty rooms then book! If you don't believe me then see the photos!
