According to their website, they leave stickers on the windscreen displaying "fixed Penalty Notice" which is a protected term under law (and they would be breaking the law by using that term). Their website also states it is ilegal to remove their notices....which it is not. You can only be charged by an official traffic warden (or one employed by the council) or policeman. They may also not charge the registered owner of the vehicle, only the driver of the vehicle, and it is up to the company to prove this point (unlike a speeding ticket where there is a legal requirement to to identify the driver). Legally, common law state they can claim for losses, ( that is to say the cost of the parking ticket!).

Legal???
I have beentrying to find out abou tthis company since I received a parking ticket in a well used car park in Kings Hetah Birmingham. Another lasy at the same time recieved a ticket even though she was in a disabled bay and with a disabled badge. We both phone the displayed mobile phone number and both recieved a shrot unhelpful answer. I am at present sending all the details I have found on the internet to Birmingham Trading Standards. Even if there are signs dosplayed they were not easily visible from where I parked. The parking fee is 50p which is easy to pay so I didnt aviod it on purpose. The company Car Clamping securities have adresses in London and Edgbaston but the address are not private to them. Their email adresses are non-maintained. i have paid because I dont want the £40 increased to £85 for no payment but I'm not happy about the legalities of the company and will keep digging.
