Pretty damn bueno
After two years without using a hairdresser I went to Benn on a whim and so glad I did! The service was amazing, and it turned out better than I could have imagined. Will definitely be there again soon. Restored my faith in hairdressers....

Very Poor Service nil stars
I had gone to this salon to get my hair coloured mostly roots, they have got no idea! The stylist asked what I wanted whilst speaking and telling her she took out her mobile phone and seemed to be texting and not listening to me I thought that was rude, then once I explained the colour I normally have she had to call over another to check to see what she thought and started asking about what colour to is up well that started to worry me I wanted to get up and leave, I wish I had they totally ruined the colour of my hair and I have now had to go and get it corrected elsewhere I did ask for my money back but all they could offer was a discount next time, thanks but no thanks, the girl that was touching my hair smelt strongly of cigarettes as well, horrible horrible experience I will not be going back

My hair cut was fab
I Hate having my hair cut , as I've never liked any style/cut that I have had bt other hairdressers so I was very nervous walking in to Benn Charles ........but Benn was fantastic and the end result was a fantastic hair cut. He asked lots of questions about what I wanted and would like and made me feel at ease. The appointment was not rushed and he talked me through all the things he was going to do on my hair. I am really happy with my hair. Huge thanks to Benn. 😃

excellent overall service
after my mum came to benjamin charles to have a colour corrected, she was so pleased, i thought i would go and try it out myself and i loved it, my hair feels great, looks great and really is amazing, all the staff were friendly and my whole time in there i saw so many pleased customers leave, i believe that benjamin charles is the best in colchester, try it out!!:)

Very Happy
Went to Benjamin Charles today after reading the reviews. Today is the first day in years I can honestly say I left a hairdressers feeling very pleased with the outcome.Benjamin was my stylist today ,I had asked for his advice on what would suit me he gave his opinion and I was happy for him to go ahead . In my experience with past Hairdressers you said what you wanted and they would go ahead and do something entirely different !!! Thank you Benjamin Charles. You did wonders on my Hair I will be coming back!

very poor
I was searching for a good hairdresser for a while and decided to check reviews . Benjamin Charles Hair had excellent reviews so I thought this is the one. Booked an appointment, turned up on time and he came,check the messages on answer machine, chatted with another client and after half hour he actually touch my hair. I asked for my roots to be redone and color the rest,cut and finish.I wanted whole length one color. Benjamin than tried to call "a color specialist" to make sure , well I don't exactly know what? What mixture to use?That made me bit worry, hairdresser with 25 years experience should know all this by now. He couldn't get to the specialist so made the mixture himself and then the person rang him back and gave instruction, he went at the back and came with the mixed color. When washing my hair there was no massage and I had a feeling he doesn't know what he is doing. And the haircut... It just needed nit ends trim,but instead I had a mess with lots of hairspray to hold it in one place.The cut was maybe five minutes... Wasted £100 and 4 hours, sitting and listening how great he actually is. I got the feeling that he doesn't know the rest of he's staff well and you could smell dump all over the place. While he was doing my hair the other stylist had four customers! All left with a smile and I was actually jealous I was not one of them. I think the reviews on the website are actually not so true. The guy has no idea how to do color and cut! Very disappointing.. I know I will not be going back there any more.Think before you try or check haircuts hes done for customers.Real customers...

Finally a decent hairdresser!
I have been looking for a good hairdresser in my price range for a very long time. It got to the point where I refused going to the hairdressers because every time I went they never did what I wanted it was always what the hairdresser wanted my hair to look like, or I would chose a hairdresser that couldn't cut fringes and I would end up with some dodgy fringe half way up my forehead! Time and time again this would happen and as a 14 year old girl I am very conscious of the way I look and hair means a lot to me! So eventually it got to the point where one day I was fed up of my hair and decided I was going to take a risk and try out a new hairdresser. But instead of just looking for hairdressers when I was in town I was going to do my research at home first. I typed into google 'Hairdressers in Colchester reviews' It came up with a whole load of review but as i scanned though I found that time and time again Benjamin Charles hair salon was getting lots of good reviews, in fact I don't think I saw one bad review! Obviously when I first got there I was nervous because of all the bad haircuts I have had in the past but there was a lovely friendly smile welcoming me and we sat in the waiting area just while Benn finished off someones elses hair (we did arrive early). He first sat me down and offered me and my mum any drinks we would like (we had tea). Benn knew that I was nervous by the look on my face but he reassured me that he would do anything until he knew that I was completely happy with what he was doing, which I liked. We sat and talked about exactly what I wanted my hair to look like. I had also brought in a mood board type thing with images from the WEB of people with hair that I liked and wanted my hair to be like. The most gorgeous smells were coming from my head when it was being washed, and he showed me what they were and told me the price (which was helpful). When he cut my hair he didn't do anything before he ran it past me, which was a nice change. He showed me all the products he was using and how much they were. Then when I came to blow-drying my hair he gave me good tips on how to recreate the look when I get home and do it myself. He even let me borrow one of his salon hair brushes to experiment with when I got home (very kind). Thank you Benjamin Charles I will definitely be coming back for my next haircut!

Best ever
Recently moved from central London and feared I'd struggle to find a great salon. How wrong I was.... Benn really listened during our consultation and he's the first hairdresser I've had who had the guts to say what, given the choice, he would do with my hair (rather than second guessing what I wanted). And, I trusted that his opinion was based on what would make me look my best and suit my lifestyle rather than what he considered a good hairstyle. For over a decade I've spent a small fortune on blonde highlights. Much like I assumed I was a 34B bra size until I got a bra fitted, I had assumed highlights were the best thing for me. I was wrong. Benn took my over- highlighted, frazzled and "khaki tinged" long hair and returned it to a lustrous reddy/brown colour, close to my natural colour, topped off with a great cut. I love it. I think it makes me look younger, brings out the colour in my eyes and suits my skin tone. I've never had so many flattering comments. Just wish I had done it years ago. The after-care service has also been fantastic. I couldn't recommend this place more highly.

Superb
I decided to give Benjamin Charles a try last September after reading the reviews on the internet. I am very pleased that I did and I have been going back regularly ever since.The attention and service is superb. All the staff are very friendly and professional. Benn is an excellent hairdresser and really listens to what you want. Am so pleased with my cut and colour today - thank you also to Nathan for a great job with the colour!

Brilliant Service, Atmosphere and Cut
I found out about Benjamin Charles after some research online, and I'm glad I did. I was very pleased I decided to try Benjamin Charles. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile, with my coat taken whilst I waited for Natalie to finish with her earlier customer (which was all of 1 min) so that was fine. I was offered a drink and Natalie was very patient listening to what I wanted and giving advice on how to keep the style, how much upkeep etc. I had asked for the highlights/lowlights Halloween offer, so Natalie then guided me through my colours choice. It was really nice, and a change, to have a hairdresser who really listened to what I wanted. Benn, the boss was also there and he was great, so friendly. I loved the massage chairs whilst my hair was washed. Overall, brilliant service, Natalie and Benn are great and I'm looking forward to going back.

Fantastic, Friendly & Trustworthy
I was so worried about finding a new salon when my one closed, a friend recommended Benjamin Charles, I didn't know they were on North Hill. The whole team made me feel welcome, and one of the family. They made me feel at ease by chatting to me, and then offering suggestions, I ended up with a gorgeous colour and hair cut. Superb, Friendly & Trustworthy
What a breath of fresh air! When my regular hairdressers closed, I was so worried about finding another salon. Everyone at Benjamin Charles made me feel like one of the family, and listened to what I had to say. The colour they suggested, combined with the haircut is smashing, and so are the massage chairs I'm one happy person. I have already booked my next visit, with a manicure too... Top London salon cut in Colchester
If you are reading this review then you, like me, care about your hair and are looking to find an excellent salon here in Colchester. Good news - You've just found it!! I took my 14 year old daughter to have her hair cut by Ben last Friday. She instantly adored Ben who spent a great deal of time taking to her about her hair, what she expected from him and products/after care too. The cut was AMAZING! Loads of movement, weight removed without losing volume, healthy ends without losing any of the length. Everyone who has seen it since has commented - She loves it and it is easy for her to style - which is always the sign of a good cut. I would recommend this salon to anyone especially my friends (and their daughters! 10/10. (This review is writen in her name, the review of my own hair cut is left separately).

Impressed
The thing that impressed me most about my first visit to Benjamin Charles was the time taken over the consultation; I didn't feel rushed at all and Benn seemed genuinely engaged. He also made suggestions for me based on his professional expertise which is what I would expect from a top class salon. The salon itself is extremely comfortable and relaxing and the chairs in the back room where your hair is washed are something else! All in all an experience I am quite happy to repeat

First Class
I can honestly say the best haircut I have ever had.A fantastic experience from start to finish. Everybody I encountered were friendly and welcoming. I felt in completely safe hands with Benn who restyled my hair beautifully. It has also been really easy to maintain my hairstyle and recreate. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this salon to anyone. I have honestly never left a review but felt compelled to do so. From the moment I walked in the salon I was made to feel very welcome and comfortable. Everyone I encountered were extremely friendly and accomodating.I had my hair restyled by Benn who was absolutely lovely and extremely professional .He makes you feel at ease straight away.I loved my new restyle straight away.The first time I have been delighted with a haircut and without having to restyle it myself when I got home.BRILLIANT

Salon experience!
Just come from Ben Charles after taking advantage of the £10 off offer. Great cut with Leigh. It was nice to sit and watch my hair being cut again. I can't recommend the shampoo chairs enough. They are amazing. You must try!

Going short

HELLO!!!!!! fish that kiss your feet, i thought i was royalty (give it a try Fergie it wont cost you a prince). I had this treatment today and its great my feet are sooooo smooooth my better half will now only complain their cold. Believe me it may seem strange at first but then it becomes fascinating watching them. It doesn't hurt and its a pleasant sensation as well as good value go for it give it a try you never know.

Love the attention to detail
I love the attention to detail at Benjamin Charles - from the sleek contemporary look of the salon to the freshly made coffee and the fab massage hair wash chairs. Tremendous
My stylist was great, they took the time to listen to me, then created my new look. I think the shampoo chairs should be promoted more, as they are wonderful, very comfortable, and massage too. Looking forward to having my colour done next week. Im WELL HAPPY :-)

Good Haircut

5 Star Service
After a friend recommended it, I had my hair cut at Benjamin Charles a couple of weeks ago now and I can't believe how the style still looks brand new. I haven't got time to spend hours under the hairdryer but the cut is really easy to style and it keeps the choppy look I left the salon with and at very little effort. Combined with the relaxed and friendly service, the AWESOME massage chairs and the fact that the whole place oozes quality, I will definitely be heading back there. Thanks guys!
