Hello! My name is Arinola Araba. I am a fun loving, inventor, entrepreneur, and mum to three teenagers who enjoys working with young people. My previous education and experiences have involved the Health, Management, IT and Politics disciplines.
The idea to start this project hit me when my teenage daughter would bring her friends home to cook them ' Jollof rice' (an African delicacy), every day, when she came home from school but I was out of work...! Clearly I had to do something or two about teaching kids the VALUE of MONEY! We (Seun and our team) brought her and friends together to form a project group to develop a game concept that would answer the question:
And the rest ...
To share my passion for Finance and Maths, I set up a social enterprise called bMoney-Wize Ltd, which supports young people with acquiring knowledge, confidence and skills to manage money, leadership and decision making skills with Maths in fun, engaging and interactive workshops.
bMoneywize is based in East London's Barking and Dagenham borough which has received its unfair amount of publicity around low educational achievement and attainment levels, high rates of unemployment, benefit-dependent families, debt and poverty.
We have developed a fun, interactive, engaging financial literacy and numeracy board game with a local teenage group to support the Department of Education's drive to shape a finance-integrated PHSE and Maths school curriculum from September 2014. Our money game has been endorsed by our Council and Education department for use within Barking and Dagenham's primary and secondary schools.
Our plan over the next two years is to develop a digital version of the game and implement a youth-led programme that delivers money workshops to schools in the Greater London area to increase its embedding of financial literacy in taught lessons.

The money board game is a fun, interactive and innovative way to address low financial literacy, poor numeracy, low educational attainment and engagement with Maths! The game requires those playing to make decisions about financial priorities
Price: £29.99
Councillor Evelyn Carpenter, Cabinet Member for Education and Schools said: “This game is just one way to provide financial literacy experience to boost and enrich young people with essential life skills using maths as part of the citizen curriculum. It provides a useful opportunity for families and young people to come together to learn the importance of handling money responsibly and realise the positive choices they have in life and how these choices can help move them forward in life to reach their full potential.”

Road test one (my family) was very successful. My 10 year old and (advanced) 7 year old rated it 9 and 9.5 out of 10 for informativeness and for fun respectively. I found it intuitive, Maike Pavitt LLB, FABRP
