Family-run Bombay Cuisine is a local institution in the scenic spa town of Moffat, serving regional recipes handed down from generation to generation through the family cookbook. Old favourites share the menu with classic dishes such as biryani, korma and meaty thalis, as well as a few local fusion specials - look out for the haggis pakora. Bright cheerful décor and simple furnishings add to the smart and welcoming atmosphere.
A friend and I ate here while staying over at the Annandale Arms in Moffat en route to the Highlands. The service really was lacking - extraordinarily slow: about half an hour for drinks to arrive, let alone starters. But this was more than made up for by the food: truly excellent, one of the best curries I've eaten. My (half Indian) companion agreed. The restaurant itself is perfectly nice, and set, slightly below street level, in a charming Lowland town. We will be eating there again on our way up north in a couple of weeks. Highly recommended, provided you're not in a hurry.

The key to any restaurant success in my opinion is consistency, a restaurant has to reach a high standard and then maintain that standard. Bombay cuisine does just that. My wife and I frequently eat out to save from cleaning the cooker (offers welcome!) and the team at Bombay Cuisine have reached and maintained a very high standard indeed. There are so many different dishes to choose from aswell as the 'traditional' madras, korma and tikka masala offerings you will often find yourself spoilt for choice. If you find yourself really stuck the Maitre D' is always on hand and provides sound advice based on what you tell him. In my opinion this is one of the best places for authentic indian food that I have eaten in and as the rating says - I would unreservedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a top quality indian meal in the area.

very disappointed, food was over priced and not nice to eat, found the staff rude throughout the meal. such a shame after thinking we had found somewhere great in such a lovely town!

I and a colleague had a meal here whilst staying in Moffat. We were keen on having a curry and were pleased to find a curry house in the town.We found that the food was very over priced and really quite poor. The place was devoid of ambiance too boot.

A top class Indian restaurant/takeaway, hidden in the rural town of Moffat in Southern Scotland! Hidden away down a small flight of steps, just off the High street, this looks to the new visitor just like any one of a thousand Indian restaurants the length and breadth of Britain. The chatty maitre d' is the first giveaway - he can talk about the reason for the restaurant, it's beginnings and how far afield they go to cater (they've catered for weddings in India itself!!). Then reading the menu makes your mouth water. Don't know what to choose, or stuck in the 'Madras is safe' camp? You can choose 3 items off the menu, and get your own personal banquet to try. They'll choose for you if you prefer. The food is superb - and I've never eaten Peshwari Naan that come close to those produced here. The disadvantage? You'll never eat peshwari naan anywhere else.
