The Borough Arms Hotel and Restaurant is one of the oldest established hotels in the Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent areas, with history dating back to 1783. The hotel is very much of the style associated with a traditional English town centre coaching inn, yet has been sensitively and subtly refined to offer the comfort and modern standards demanded by today's visitors.
Independently owned and managed, the hotel retains many period features and takes great pride in offering a very personal service. As a valued guest, you may be confident that we will do our utmost to ensure your comfort, whether you are staying in one of our 40 centrally heated, ensuite rooms, visiting us for a meal in the restaurant, or using our conference and banqueting facilities. You may wish to see our online wedding brochure, which provides more information about Civil Ceremonies and wedding receptions.
Close to the centre of the historic borough of Newcastle, The Borough Arms Hotel is convenient for both business and leisure visits to many local attractions, including Alton Towers, the English Peak District, the Staffordshire Potteries, Stoke-on-Trent, the Staffordshire Moorlands, Cheshire and Derbyshire. Take a look at the "Our location" page to see our exact location.
Within close walking distance is the superb New Victoria Theatre (with performances in the round). The Hanley Cultural quarter, where you can enjoy plays, concerts and other entertainment at the Victoria Hall and the newly restored Regent theatre is just a few minutes from the hotel by car, taxi or bus. Further high quality leisure facilities, including cinemas and bowling, are available at the nearby Festival Park.
Each of the Borough Arms' 40 centrally heated, ensuite bedrooms is designed to offer you a comfortable, relaxing stay, with colour digital/satellite TV, direct dial phone and hospitality tray. We also offer hairdryers and Iron and Ironing boards on request.
During restaurant opening hours, you are welcome to request room service, laundry services are available during the week and a safety deposit service is also provided.
Single, twin, double and family rooms, plus executive doubles and suites are all available in both the main Hotel and the adjacent custom designed Annexe building.
Breakfast is served from 7:00am - 9:00am daily (8:00am - 10:00am Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays).
Our function rooms are ideal for all kinds of family gatherings, from birthday parties to weddings.
With both rooms licensed for weddings, you may choose the most appropriate for your ceremony, then retire immediately to the other, for drinks and the wedding reception. The Ostler Restaurant may also be used for receptions. Should you wish to host a further party, the ceremonial room may be prepared for use after the traditional reception.
An attractive area of parkland is set directly opposite the hotel, with trees, shrubs and undulating ground levels offering a variety of creative opportunities for the photographer.
We welcome both hotel residents and non-residential guests to the Ostler Restaurant and Gladstone Bar, which have for years been popular with the townsfolk of Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Warm colours and comfortable furnishings provide a relaxing ambience, while the service you enjoy is both courteous and accommodating to your individual requirements.
