Beware of Brand Recruitments Small Print

Just a warning to others, so you are not caught out like we have been. We placed a job ad and as usual were bombarded with calls from recruitment agencies including Brand Recruitment. After numerous calls from Brand Recruitment and limited success in our first placement the guy from Brand Recruitment persuaded me to look at his CV's - at this point without me knowing I had agreed to pay £4000 + VAT if I ever employ any of the candidates that he sent over, by whatever means!! I looked at the fees and declined the agencies help, re-advertised about 4 weeks later and got a much better response. I employed one candidate from this advert but was later contacted by Brand as it transpired that he was one of the candidates they sent over in their original email and this meant I was still liable for their fee. In the small print sent over with the CV's there is a note to say that receiving the email with the CV's along with their terms and conditions binds you to the terms. In those terms agency fees are payable even if you employ one of these candidates by other means. They are now threatening us with legal action if we don't pay as they know if we fight our legal costs could well outweigh the fee they are claiming and these are none refundable in the small claims court. So the message is know what you are getting into with this company, just reviewing their CV's whether you want to go ahead with them or not makes you liable for the full agency fee and they do persue it in full with legal backing!!!!
