I CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS SHOP HIGHLY ENOUGH,THEY WERE HELPFUL THE MINUTE WE WALKED THROUGH THE DOOR,TIL WE TOOK DRESS HOME.MY DAUGHTER PAID TO HAVE SHOP TO HERSELF ONE EVENING FOR A SMALL CHARGE WHICH IS IDEAL IF YOU'VE HAD LONG DAY AT WORK AND WANT TO RELAX ,WAS NOT HURRIED AND PERFECT DRESS FOUND.I CAN ONLY SAY GO THERE FIRST YOU WONT NEED TO GO ANYWHERE ELSE

Avoid
Brides Of Southampton were very friendly at first. However when the bridesmaids dresses came they were the wrong colour. This happened three times. The first two times they would not admit fault saying that I had asked for that colour. They assured me that the correct dresses were in stock and would arrive in plenty of time before the wedding. After months of this they contacted me a week before the wedding to say that the correct dresses had arrived. Again one of the three dresses was the wrong colour. As it was a week before the wedding I had to accept the dresses they gave me. They offered me £50 off the price of this dress. However they made this money back by charging me £150 to hire the hoop for my wedding dress. This close to the wedding I had no choice but to accept.

most awful place ever!
My sister bought her wedding dress and my bridesmaid dress here.service rude and terrible. I was told (size 14) that i should probably loose some weight for the wedding. my dress cost £179. this was paid. i went to final fitting expecting to be able to take the dress away, to be hit with a bill for £90 for alterations. my sisters cost an extra £75. My friend is a dress maker, so I said I did not want the alterations, that I would not need them. THEY REFUSED TO LET ME HAVE MY DRESS!! They directed me to the small print that said all alterations were to be made by brides of southamption, and because the dress needed altering I had to pay this money before I could have my dress . I feel cheated and ripped off. A good sales person would have politely informed us of this before my sister parted with over £1000 of her money

Massive thank-you for finding me the perfect dress for my special day. From the first visit your staff were polite, friendly and very helpful. I will certainly be recommending you to freinds and family. Must visit for future Brides - good prices, great selection and very good service.

Excellent service especially for the big size
I am a size 20 with not a huge budget and had felt disheartened by other stores who made me feel large and uncomfortable. Brides of Southampton made me feel very at home, I had my own member of staff, she did not rush me and the shop was very busy but everyone was enjoying themselves - good atmosphere. My lady found me the perfect dress and made me feel a million dollars and reduced me and my Mum to tears. I have had 2 fittings since and they have been very understanding about me trying to lose weight - cannot understand other reviews on this web site? I would recommend this shop to everyone. M x

If you want to feel like a special bride don't go here!
Terribly sad and disapointed with this shop, I just wish I'd thought to look at the reviews before ordering my dress from them. When I first became interested in a particular dress I went back and tried it a couple of time and finally went to order it - the girl who'd been seeing to me was really friendly but she said she was leaving as she wanted to start running a bar and she was doing this as an inbetween job. When I ordered my dress whey made a big issue about the fact that I knew what shoes I wanted and that they had a higher heel than what they'd been putting me in (as I hadn't quite ordered the shoes yet so I didn't have them to try on with the dress but I knew the heel hight) and said I'd have to pay to order longer length (somehting they had not mentioned any other time I'd been in there) - turns out after they phoned the manufacturer I didn't have to pay for extra length but it may come too long and I'd have to pay for alteration - that's fair enough though. I went for my first fitting this week, i'm 2 months before my wedding, and after they pinned me for what alterations I currently need I asked them when the latest we can push back making any necessary alterations is as I'm under doctors orders to loose weight at the moment (a bit of a pain when you're trying to make sure a wedding dress will fit you but it's the god-honest truth) and they got all huffy that I hadn't told them earlier as they wouldn't have bothered pinning me - well actually it's useful to see what changes I'm likely to need to the dress are as their alterations cost so much money I need to save up for them all. I didn't get to spend any time with MY dress, that I've paid in full for. I wanted to see if a clutch bag I have bought goes with it and I want a wrap made and had samples for an internet company that makes them that I didn't get to check against my dress as they whisked it away so quickly. They don't help you with anything else, I would have liked to spend some time looking at hair accessories etc but they just don't care about friendly customer service. They don't help you feel in any way like a pretty princess of a bride - I just left feeling really deflated. I wouldn't recommend going here to anyone unless you are happy with a 'wham bam thankyou mam' kind of service. Wish I had gone elsewhere, but unfortunately not many places stocked my dress

Don't go to this shop
Most rude person I have ever met. Didn't listen to what I wanted, ordered the wrong little bridesmaid's dress but insisted it was the right one . It came calf length despite the one tried on being floor length -- the excuse given being the one originally tried on must have been far too big for the little girl, even though I made clear at the time I wanted it floor length. Had to pay for this dress but didn't use it as it was so awful. Alteration costs for the other dresses were outrageous. Cannot recommend this shop at all.

Don't go if your bigger than a size 14!
I was also terribly distressed and disappointed. I waited for around an hour to be shown into a dressing room only for my friend, who I wanted to come with me to be told to 'stay where you are'. I was the told that there wasn't much for me. I am a size 16 not large I'd say, I was interested in trying a gown however I was told 'it's a size 14 so I wouldn't even go there.' I was mortified the sales member was aggressive and stern I felt stressed and horrified. Don't go there if your bigger than a 14 you will never want to try on a wedding dress again.

Fantastic experience
After reading some of the reviews of Brides of Southampton I was a little worried about going there. I shouldn't have been. The beauty about BofSoton is that once you have an assistant (you may have to wait max 20 mins) you have the assistant for as long as it takes you to find a dress - i was in there for 3 hours! The women are highly experienced and pin you in and alter the dress so you walk out with it looking perfect. They also let you try on anything but as they know all the styles they quickly start to help you whittle it down and also advise on dresses you perhaps would not have originally considered. You can also try on any veils you want straight away, unlike Pronovias in Bond Street which was not a patch on BofSoton! Out of the boutiques i went to in London and one in Winchester, brides of Southampton were wonderful. My mum only cried when i was in this store as they made me look how i will look on the wedding day, unlike the other shops which just shove you in a dress and push you out. I bought my dress on Saturday after going back there a second time, i am now so excited and without doubt I have the most beautiful dress for me thanks to the ladies at BofSoton.

Brilliant
This is a very busy shop om Saturday but I had a fantasic assistance and was not rushed at all. I found an amazing dress at a really good price. I was recommended by friends and was really glad I went there.

dont go on a Saturday
There are no appointments so it's a bit of a free for all. Go on a weekday and the service is fine. It is not the typical pampering experience - but isn't that all sales rhetoric anyway? It really depends how precious you are. There is a lot of bustle and staff do interrupt each other and barge in on you, but we're all women after all! When I made my decision the assistant told me to go away and think about it. She did not pressure me at all. I got a lovely sale dress and the alterations for free!

Fantastic
Personal service and attention to detail is by far the best, thoroughly enjoyed my experience of buying my wedding dress, they also did my mothers wedding 25 years ago!
