I started this class because I did not want to go to a gym, I was limited with regard to time as I work some evenings and Saturdays. I have been a single parent for the past 18 months with two teenage boys following my husbands mid life crisis. I wanted to do something for myself to start getting fit and to get a bit of confidence. I enjoy the classes. They are a great bunch of people of mixed ages and very very patient!

It was the parent/child aspect that attracted me to Bromley CKD. With my son starting secondary school, I was keen for him to develop the self-confidence and control that comes with practicing a martial art. CKD has been perfect for him - and it's done me no harm either! I'd strongly recommend Bromley Self Defence to any parent.

I'm another parent who joined because her son wanted to. We have both gained so much. My son has been able to deal with a school bully with confidence and minimum aggression. I am so much fitter and for the first time in many years free of back pain. I also walk with confidence when out alone at night and no longer feel like an easy target. Would recommend this club to anyone of any age.

Like so many others, I joined after initially taking my youngest son along. Although I kept quite fit, my flexibility and stamina had suffered over the years. As I have attended the classes over the last year and a half the movements and exercises have been excellent and are very practical for my 'older' joints. Couple that with the practicality of this martial art in the real world, I would seriously recommend this to all of you that are fed up of sitting by the TV every night thinking about getting fit.

Having done previous martial arts I was unsure of what to make of Choi Kwang Do - but even after my very first lesson I was hooked by the practicality of this art in today's society. It's not just a sport for show, every move flows and makes sense. The Instructor shares his 30 years of knowledge with us in a disciplined but enjoyable and respectful environment and I personally feel privileged to be training with one of the best.

I have been training in Choi Kwang Do (CKD) for a few years, so I have had the privilege of training at UK seminars, and at other CKD schools through out Kent. The standard at Bromley CKD is very high, the techniques are perfect and instruction professional, living in Bromley all my life and training in Martial Arts I have also trained at other local traditional schools, some good, some bad, but again compared to the knowledge and instruction of the head Instructor at Bromley CKD, they just don't have the wealth of expertise in self defence. If you live in the Borough or Even in Kent its worth the journey to train with these guys.

Girls point of view

Service

Quality

I believe every lady should learn some form of real street defence in the times we live in, and also it very important to keep the mind & body healthy, I looked at some traditional martial arts like Kung Fu, and Mauy Thia, thai boxing was very demading on the body, and very powerful, but we did not learn street defence, but it is a powerful martial art, I went to a few well known kung fu schools in the Bromley area, and we just all stood in straight lines waving our hands about, the strikes where not powerful and I really couldnt see what bits I could use in real self defence. So I lost my faith in martial arts, it seemed that winning belts or paying large amounts of cash for rubbish had taken hold in Bromley. Whats a girl suppose to do ? Then by chance I found Bromley choi kwang do, it was street defence from the word go, with powerful techniques that work, plus they show techniques how to escape from holds or if you were taken to the ground, and the value of real martial arts, its about personal development and not winning a plastic medal. Thats just my opinion, I would suggest do some research for whats best for you, but Bromley Choi kwang Do is the best . Oh and don't forget the eye candy.

I did Thai Boxing many years ago but had to give it up due to back injury.I have done gym and other martial arts and i was introduced to CKD threw a friend and for some reason the way we train my back is much better in fact it hurts if i dont go.The last few years i have had mental stress with work and at home and thanks to Darren i feel so much better for my self and my family i wished i had found CKD sooner. This purely is a self defence for the streets and the confidence i have now i can enjoy myself without feeling fear when going out but awearness to avoid situations.

Give it a Go

Service

I was originally looking for a class to keep up fitness and decided to give Choi Kwang Do a go. In honesty I wasn't sure how well I'd take to it - I had no previous martial arts experience and never imagined myself throwing a punch! However, I found the classes really friendly with men and women of all ages training and the lessons taken at a good pace. This is a great place to learn and I enjoy the classes for what they are and the practical aspect - we're taught techniques requiring minimum strength, effective for any woman needing to defend themselves in the streets.

Bromley CKD

I started at Bromley back in November, after only watching 5 mins of a class. My first class proved to be just what I wanted, good training using logical techniques that work and make sense. But my reason for going back the next time and joining up to Bromley CKD was the instructor, a down to earth guy who knows his stuff and who knows how to demonstrate and get across what he is teaching. I only go to the adult class which is a really friendly atmosphere with men, women, young and old (me being one of the old ones) but I always get there early and that's when you see the instructor's other talent and that is how works with the kids, good discipline and good fun. I have been training in Choi Kwang Do for three years and have been taking my ten year old son. It has been a great experience and I have felt a real improvement to my physical fitness, despite having trained in sport all of my life. The ethos of self defence is developed off a foundation of good physical health but the punching and kicking is great fun to. All is controlled with contact to punch shields; nobody goes to class to get hurt. I believe that Choi makes me safer on the street.

My over fitness has improved, I feel and look more healthy, Ive ditched the boring Gym, I have more confidence and I more aware. Friendly qualified Instrcutors, it surprised me with an Instrcutor being so powerful, fast and with a the knowledge they have how humble they all are. I think martial arts do have a bad reputation, but nowI see they are not all about 'hitting someone' rather than the oppisit.
