this is a new gem that we've discovered. I love the cosy setting of the pub and the large play area outside to keep kids occupied. Plenty of seating and different areas- the outside decking, restaurant bit, the pub then the outside bit too. They have a BBQ there sometimes too. I don't think the food is that great- i've eaten there a few times and it's not the best i've tasted but the staff are friendly and helpful and the setting is nice and relaxed so we always end up going back! I wouldn't go (personally) if you want a good meal alone, but if you want a few drinks, want to relax in a homely atmosphere and want to keep the kids entertained, then this is definitely for you!

Where can you find open in the evenings at the weekend for a coffee or hot soup without spending the time and money on a full meal or when one person has already eaten or is on a budget and when one person won't drink because they are driving or teetotal? We reckoned most pubs are crowded on a Friday night and gastropubs are likely to expect you to have a full meal. This place was our answer. Seems to have been pleasantly re-decorated since our last visit.Staff cheerful and helpful. The chicken livers with button mushrooms as a starter at £6 sounded like a light snack supper but it was not available. I opted for soup at £4.80. Carrot and something. Coriander? Caraway? Yes, it contained tasty little nutty bits. The white bread was warm. And came with butter. The soup went cold over the next half hour or so. Maybe I should have eaten faster. DrinksMy double espresso with milk - I thought I asked for hot milk - also went cool. I could have done with a mulled wine. On Hampstead Heath the pubs used to serve hot wine in winter. I was cold before I arrived and cold after I got home.My companion was happy with a Mexican beer which apparently always comes served with a wedge of green lime. From the point of view of the drinker that alters the flavour. From the point of view of the wine-drinking onlooker the lime adds a touch of class. It ends up inside the bottle leaving you wondering how it got there, like a ship in a bottle.Atmosphere was calm, pleasant, unhurried. People around at other tables but not imposing on us. Nice nooks.Choice of pew seating against the wall or chairs. For the first second the bench seating seemed a bit narrow and hard but I was soon used to it.Pleasant candles on tables and large real flower - quite romantic. When I go back I'll try the Kobe beefburger, at £14 the most expensive main course dish. The plaque on the wall says the meat comes from Japanese cattle in Wales. It is nice nice to know that before landing on your plate the cattle 'live a life of luxury' and enjoy a massage. Even if you don't order it - what a pleasing thought - a life of luxury and a massage. For an extra 50p you can add a fried egg. Live dangerously. At lunch time you can have a smoked salmon bagel with spring onion and cream cheese. Their sandwiches come with French fries and bread choices include baguette or granary bread.ClienteleWhen I was there, a nice quiet crowd.Return visit:Car park alongside gives a view of the Wembley arch lit up at night. The cod in beer batter on a Sunday is rather a lot of batter but it was okay. Service was very friendly. The shortage of one sort of potato was compensated by adding another. They don't do medium-sweet wines but they had a rose wine by the glass.

I would highly recommend this place for eating. Prices are reasonable, service is excellent and friendly and the food is delicious. The pub has themed nights for example, Tuesday is Steak night and Friday is fish night. So far we have had the steak which is always well cooked (with chips to die for), locally produced sausages and a scrumptious Italian style pollack dish. Highly recommended
