Dreadful....I booked this through a Groupon deal and tried this place for the first and last time! I can honestly say the food was truly appalling. My daughter has made better 'bread' at school, the garlic mushrooms tasted of nothing and were served in what I can only describe as a watery gravy. The main dish looked promising but the chicken tasted unfresh and there was no sign of the blue cheese stuffing (not that we dared to eat the chicken anyway) . The only good thing was the small dish of vegetables. We left having eaten only a handful of food, needless to say we declined the offer of a dessert. To add insult to injury they charged us £5 for two small glasses of lime and soda! Never again.

We went to Cheikho's as part of a Groupon voucher, no problem with making booking, so was expecting a good night, as have been before and had good service and food (but that was because we were paying for the meal and not using a Groupon Voucher!) The food while ok, wasn't very Italian. I ordered Bruschetta, but nothing like any bruschetta I've had before – this was cooked dough covered in a tomato sauce – no bread!! My friend ordered mushrooms, but it was a pastry case which was wrapped around a metal dish (not sure if the pastry case was meant to be edible, but serving it in the metal dish wasn't attractive and it was a few mushrooms, raw onion and a weak brown liquid sauce which was nothing like described on the menu! For our main we both ordered the chicken stuffed with mushrooms and blue stilton, wrapped in bacon with a mustard sauce – sounds delish! The chicken was stuffed with the mushrooms and blue stilton with a tiny piece of bacon placed on the top, but the chicken was drowned in a thin liquid gravy sauce – nothing like that described on the menu! We were also served a tiny bowl of vegetables – hardly enough for one, let alone two!! The main complaint we had was the drinks. We both ordered an orange juice and lemonade. When they arrived we asked them if it was cordial, not orange juice – as we could see through the drink! and were told it was orange juice and lemonade (obviously scrimping on the o.juice!) We later ordered another drink, an orange juice and lemonade and a sparkling water. The orange juice arrived, this time an oversized glass full of orange juice with very little lemonade and the waiter brought a bottle of sparking water, which wasn't opened in front of us, poured it and when we tasted it, it was flat!! This bottle of water had either been opened a number of days ago, or they top it up from old bottles! At this point we decided to eat up as quickly as possible and skip desert (which isn't like us!) When the bill arrived we were fleeced for these drinks. Between two of us, and they were non-alcoholic and just two, we were charged £12.70! From a marketing point of view, no business makes money from a Groupon voucher, the business is made from recommendations and returning customers. Cheikhos are the complete opposite, they are making their money and fleecing people from the cost of the drinks for Groupon customers. They certainly won't be getting me as a returning customer or a recommendation! Be warned if you've got a Groupon voucher!!

I booked through a KGB deal to try out for the first time as I live locally. I contacted Cheikho's to make a booking and was told that I needed to make a 48hr. reservation for Groupon/KGB offers. Fortunately the owner was accomodating and managed to fit us in on the same night (Saturday). On arrival the owner made our party feel uncomfortable by making it clear that he did us a favour by fitting us in and that our vouchers should have been on a full A4 sheet of paper (I clearly made the mistake of cutting away the terms and conditions section of the voucher leaving only the voucher code and all relevant info attached). He was also unhappy that it was a KGB voucher and not a Groupon offer that we came with (why? im not quite sure). He eventually overlooked it and sat us at our table. The most dissappointing part of the evening was that the menu had been shortened extremely from what the KGB deal was offering. It stated that there were only two dishes from the full menu that would incur a surcharge. The owner in fact had put many of the menu dishes on the specials boards with surcharges attached and handed us an A4 piece of paper with handpicked dishes from the full menu. The food was fine, not very Italian though. The service was attentitive but as we had the table next to the front of the house, we had to endure the stress and complaining of the manager to his very unhappy waitress and kitchen staff. Last was the added extras on the bill. Drinks were way overpriced and a small portion of plain pasta for a child sent the extras to over £30. we were unaware of this as we were only handed a selected menu on A4 with no drinks menu or prices. BEWARE! Overall the night was very disappointing and I left feeling very short changed :(
