The professional body for the UK's plumbing and heating industry

The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) is the only professional body for the UK's plumbing and heating industry. As an educational charity, its main purpose is to enhance the safety and health of the public.

The CIPHE has some 8,500 members made up of individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, including, specifiers, designers, public health engineers and lecturers/trainers. In addition, over 200 manufacturers and distributors support its work as Industrial Associate Supporters. There are a range of membership categories to suit anyone working in the industry and a fantastic variety of advantages available to all members, including the opportunity to register with the Engineering Council, which provides further professional recognition.

The CIPHE holds the only voluntary registers for both plumbers and heating engineers. Working closely with Government, other industry bodies, manufacturers and merchants, the CIPHE is lobbying hard for public recognition to drive up professional standards within plumbing and heating engineering and safeguard the environment. The number of professionals applying for registration is growing every month as installers realise the importance of being able to show proof of qualifications and competencies.
