Have you ever heard anything so silly as phoning a hotel to book it only to be told they have rooms but you must phone central reservations? Add to that they know central reservations is closed and would rather lose the booking than help you. How sad a hotel is so locked up in a system that simple, basic customer service takes second place. If this is how they treat you before they take your booking consider how they may serve you when you're there. Personally I'd give them a wide berth.
