Cloud Machine Manager

Cloud Machine Manager is a new web-based service which can deliver significant savings on Amazon EC2 hosting. When a server isn't being used, it turns it off. When a user needs the server, it turns it back on again - all automatically and without the need for technical staff or access to the AWS console by end users.

Cloud Machine Manager (CMM) has three primary features:

• It can be configured to switch off a server outside office hours - and back on again ready for the next day's work.
• It can be configured to allow an employee to start a server on request – a job usually requiring a call to technical support.
• It can monitor the usage levels of the server, recognise when it's not being used, and switch the server off.

By automatically turning on Amazon servers for only the periods or instances when they are needed, customers can reduce Cloud server running costs by up to 90%.
