Trading Standards Visit is Urgently Needed Here

I purchased £80s worth bedding including 2xsingle duvet cover sets.After three days use the applique on both sets started to fray and so I returned them to shop. The assistants pointed to various signs which said 'No Refunds' and said only the owner could exchange or refund and anyhow because a) I had washed them (once @30deg.),b) they were reduced price items c) I only had CC receipt and d) the boss wasn't there, there was nothing they could do.They tried to 'phone her but she was not answering. I left the items at the shop and said I would return the following week after they had spoken to the boss about my problem. When I returned they gave me back the covers and said because they had sold hundreds of this particular set ,without any problems,there was nothing they could do. Amazing that out of the hundreds,I get the only two that were substandard and shoddy. I asked if they could contact the manufacturing company and they said it had gone out of business. They had an answer for everything. I said I was going to trading standards about the problem and they said,'Well go on then', They were not at all phased and seemed well rehearsed in dealing with 'returns'. Avoid like the plague.
