Crown Lift (or Lift)
Crown lifting is removal of the lowest branches and preparing of lower branches for future removal, normally to give a uniform height above ground level. It should be achieved either by the removal of whole braches, or by the removal of only those parts which extend below the desired clear height.
Common reasons for crown lifting are to bring more light and provide clearance for pedestrians, vehicles or buildings. In the U.K. common practice dictates clearance should be 5.2 metres (approx 17 feet) for vehicles, and 2.5m (approx 8 feet) for pedestrians.

Crown Thinning
Crown thinning involves the removal of a proportion of secondary and small branches to produce an even density of foliage around a well spaced and balanced branch structure without altering the overall size or shape of the tree.
Crown thinning will result in improved light levels passing through the canopy thus reducing shading. It will reduce the wind resistance of the crown and reduce the loading upon the limbs of the tree. Note: the leaf area removed should not normally exceed 30%

Crown Reduction and/or reshaping
Crown reduction is used to reduce the height and/or spread of the crown of a tree by the removal of the ends of branches whilst preserving the tree’s natural shape as far as possible.
Crown reduction is often used when a tree has grown too large for its permitted space.

Felling
Felling is the complete removal of a tree down to ground level. This work involves the careful lowering of branches and timber so as not to cause damage or destruction to surrounding plants and structures. The stump will be left as close to the ground as possible but will be above soil level.

Tree Services Provided

We work to British Industry Standard BS3998 recognised for quality and workmanship. We have full Public liability Insurance to 5 Million Pounds, plus Employee Liability Insurance. With our highly trained teams and first class equipment we guarantee to provide a risk free, quality professional job.

Formative Prune
The aim of Formative pruning is to produce a tree which in maturity will be free from major physical weekness. The objective is to encourage the formation of good stem and branch structure, by improving the orientation, spacing, growth rate and ultimate size of branches

Dead Wood Removal
This is the removal of dead, dying, diseased, detached or broken branches from the tree. The removal of such branches may be desirable where they represent a risk to persons or property. It improves the overall appearance of the tree and can help promote the future health of the tree.

Pollarding
This term describes the removal of all branches from the trunk. Pollarding should not be used on trees that have not previously been pollarded, as the large wounds created initiate serious decay in mature and maturing trees. This risk is smaller for very young trees. Pollarded trees usually require regular treatment of re-growth

Branch Removal
Following an inspection it may be necessary or desirable to remove specific branches from a tree, this may be to clear a property or sight line or to allow access for vehicles/machinery. Heavy Branches are generally removed in sections, and when necessary are lowered with ropes to avoid damage to the tree or its surroundings.

Stump Grinding
When a tree has been felled to ground level, you may require the stump to also be removed. This is sometimes required if you intend to re-plant on the site of the old tree, or if the stump will be obstructing the building of a new structure such as a shed, fence or a property extension
This procedure involves using a stump grinding machine which will grind down the stump until the stump and root system are destroyed.

Cabling and Bracing
Cabling and bracing is the introduction of artificial support into a tree, it may in certain circumstances extend the tree’s safe life and/or lessen the damage done should the supported part collapse. Individual limbs or the entire tree may be cabled and braced. Fasteners are attached to the weakened limb and the main trunk. Using ropes or chains, tension is applied to the weakened limb. Heavy duty cables are then prepared and attached to each fastener to provide the correct amount of support for the weakened limb.

Hedges
Your hedges can be pruned to any size and any shape, from small ornamental hedges, conifers to large rural hedges to create a neat and tidy form

Ground Clearance
Clearance of dense vegetation, overgrown gardens, site clearance for building works

Emergency Works
This includes storm and high wind damage, clearing BT lines, blocked roads and driveways. Trees that suffer storm damage must be tackled almost immediately to prevent further damage and most of all to ensure the safety of the public.
