I purchased a van from this company on the 5th of November 2018 When I collected the van I was told the buttons on the steering wheel that control the radio quote "do not work on that model of van as it’s a basic model" The day after I got the van I called ford UK who confirmed they should be working. I called David eddowes and they said again they should not work on that van as it’s a basic model and as I could not find a fuse in the fuse box I assumed this to be right. But after more issues came up with this vehicle I decided to look into it and found it to be incorrect, and that these buttons should work. And after a lot of hard work arguing with them they agreed to repair them and the USB port that also did not work. On the day after getting the van I found it had oil under the front passenger side of the engine I thought it may be spillage from when they changed the oil so cleaned it off, and decided to monitor it. On the 27th of November I realized the van was leaking oil so took it back, it was in for repair for 4 days. On the 1st of December I collected the van and on the way home from the garage the brakes failed on my van causing me to go over run a roundabout. I turned around and took the van straight back to the garage who said the brake shoes were not in correctly. They corrected this while I waited. I took the van home on the 1st of December 2018. On the 6th of December the van was delivered back to them with yes you guessed it an oil leak again from the gear box. On the 17th of December I had no use from this van since the 27th of November as it had been in the garage, they refused to tell me when I was getting the van back. They told me to stop ringing them, they just said we will ring you when it’s ready. They said I should stop ringing as they have other customers to deal with. When I said I would take this to the small claims court they said, take us to court then. On the 20th of December the repairs were completed again, and I asked them if they could keep the van until I was feeling better just after Christmas, but the manager said if I didn’t get it off his forecourt that day they would park it on the road and leave it there. I collected my van today 20th December 2018, Approximately 23 days since I first discovered the van to be leaking gear box oil. When I got back to Sheffield I thought I would check the repairs. The buttons on the steering wheel which they originally told me should not work on that model of van because it’s a basic model, were now fixed and working. I also checked the underneath of the vehicle to find that it was still leaking oil and only after 50 miles from leaving the garage. I called David Eddowes and they said they were happy to repair the van for the 3rd time but due to it being 4 days to Christmas and medical conditions I was unable to get the van back to them now until after Christmas. So I was unable to use the van as I was not sure how much oil has come out of the gearbox, and I did not want to damage then van so it would have stayed locked in my garage until the 3rd of January when it would have gone back for its 3rd repair. This means that by the time I would have got the van back after the 3rd repair, I will have had 2 days use from it in a total of 41 days. That’s 2 days use from the 27th of November until the 3rd repair was finished but it could be more depending on how long the third repair would take. After another day of contact with David eddowes ltd we were not able to come to an agreement on an end result to resolve the issues with my van. There was oil leaking from the same place as the last two times when it was the gear box leaking. So looked like the same issue again for the third time. Due to the stress and financial loss suffered in this matter I feel I had no choice but to now walk away and deal with this issue myself. David eddowes agreed to buy the van back from me for a lower price than I originally paid for it but when I got to the garage they were unable to do the bank transfer while I waited as they promised on the phone the day before, therefore this also did not happen. In the end I didn’t want to take the van back for 3rd repair to see if they could manage to fix it that time so I ended up selling the vehicle for much lower than I originally paid for it, but after weeks or arguing with them and getting nowhere it was the only option. I thought people should read my review on my experience with this company.
