A Function Band Can Help Your Wedding Anniversary or Mature Birthday Party Go With a Swing!

Before thinking about the content of your evening you need to book the right venue for your party. Whether you book a hotel function room, a grand marquee or just a church hall, you must be sure that the catering arrangements are suitable for the range of guests you will be inviting. Hotels are well capable of providing a hot meal or buffet but sometimes need a little persuasion to provide a range of food for a wide enough range of tastes. If you are hiring a marquee or church hall you will need to organise the catering yourself, but at least you will be sure to get what you want! Having booked the venue, the next thing to do is book your entertainment. A live band is a good place to start. Because of the range of ages likely to be invited - aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces as well as your immediate family, its a good idea to book a band who would describe themselves as a function band. This should reassure you that they will have the range of songs in their repertoire to cater for a wide range of tastes. Consider also hiring a table magician who could travel round the tables doing tricks whilst your guests are seated, creating a good ambience during the meal or buffet and not creating too much noise. Put small gifts in each of your guests' places - such as: Rocket balloons - these make a great noise. They fly around the room in a harmless way, and your guests can say hello to each other when they are going to pick them up. Little puzzles and games - metal puzzles and ball bearing into holes games are cheap and popular and will get guests talking around the table while they are solving the puzzles or playing the games. A bowl of sweets and chocolates on each table is a nice gesture. Pin up or display on a table some photos of yourself as a baby or during your youth and invite guests to write who's who underneath. Ask your function band to do a round of "guess the year" - the function band can sing songs from different years and guests can shout out the answers. You could give a prize for the first correct answer and maybe a booby prize for the furthest out! Provide a few little "spot prizes" which the function band can award whilst people are dancing. Items such as boxes of sweets (Celebrations?), novelties or silly things like a whole pineapple, etc. Organise a simple quiz with a prize of a bottle of wine or chocolates. Walk round and hand it out at the tables, this is a nice way of saying hello to everyone. Here's an example (it's a great icebreaker):- "To make sure you all get to know each other I have set you a challenge. You have to track down 10 people and write something about them to prove you've spoken to them. At least one must be someone you've never met before. In the event of a tie the function band will award the prize to the most entertaining entry. Have a great night and thanks one and all for coming". Remember to do a table plan. It's a good idea to think about who will sit together and to mix it up a bit to help people to get to know each other and makes for a warmer more friendly event in the long run. If you are going to make a speech, make it short and write it first, and then check with your function band that you can use their microphone. Ask at the start of the night and they will show you how to use it properly! Above all prepare your evening in advance and then you can relax and enjoy the fruits of your labours.

Wedding Bands North East 5 Ways To Find The Best

When planning your wedding evening entertainment you need a top class live band who can keep your guests dancing to their favourite songs all night long. You've had a long day to organize from hairdressers to florists, from church to hotel, from photographer to food. Wouldn't it be good to be able to relax after the end of your wedding breakfast and not to have to then organize the evening as well. I have heard many tales of woe from brides who were married in the north east area where the only entertainment booked has been a DJ, often no more than one of the hotel staff with virtually no training or experience, put behind the built in antique disco console with a small collection of tired 80's disco hits. Needless to say, the majority of the guests have sneaked away as soon as the buffet has been served and left the Bride and Groom with an empty room and a very sad end to their day. It's no good at this point wishing they'd spent a few hundred pounds extra - often no more than the cost of the cake which has not been touched - on an experienced live band to provide some first class professional entertainment for the evening. So, what kind of band would you look for? First and foremost you need to remember that you will have 3 or 4 generations represented among your guests and you need a band who can entertain them all. Avoid "club and pub" bands who tend to only play heavy rock. You may have had a great time after a few drinks but how would your mum and dad like them? Much better is to seek out a band that has performed for a lot of different kinds of function and will therefore have a much broader repertoire of songs. Second, always ask what the band will wear. If you and your guests have spent a small fortune on new clothes, do you really want a bunch of guys in tee shirts and jeans traipsing into your wedding? Third, how loud will they be? Can they perform at a lower volume if the venue is small, and, for that matter, can they make enough noise to fill a huge marquee? The best wedding bands north east can easily tailor their volume to suit every venue. Fourthly, will you get the band you think you booked. Some bands can't resist taking on every booking offered to them which means that on your special night you could see a bunch of "deps" introducing themselves to each other and trying to sort out what songs they can all play! Try to book a band that only accepts one booking per day. Probably the most important question is can you trust the band to organise your evening entertainment so that it works well for you and not just for them, Will they bring recorded music for their intervals or will your guests be left sitting in silence, and will they perform for sufficient time to justify the expense. The best way to find a great band is to search Google or other good search engines for wedding bands in your area for instance by searching for wedding bands north east and check out the various bands' websites. Good wedding bands north east will generally have a good informative website, and remember, if their website is dull they probably will be too! Above all, remember a good live band will make your evening and will always be preferable to just a DJ, and considering that the cost will no doubt be a small fraction of the overall cost of your wedding it could turn out to be your best investment.
