I have had a dental phobia for many years. I suffer from terrible anxiety and fear when it comes to visiting the dentist. Some of the dentists I had visited in the past, unfortunately seemed to dismiss my anxieties, and were not very supportive of my phobia. After experiencing problems with root canals and eventually loosing teeth, I decided I wanted to do something about it. I went on the Internet and researched the dentists who specifically dealt with patients who have dental phobias – and this is how I came across Dr Sanders. When I met him I was immediately confident in his professionalism. The way he spoke to me and explained everything so clearly, he made me feel calm and reassured. I immedi- ately trusted him and knew he wouldn’t push me into having things done I didn’t want. I am based in London, but after meeting Dr Sanders, I knew he was the implant dentist for me and de- cided that I would travel to his prac- tice in Southampton. When I arrived, everyone in his team was so friendly, helpful and had such a per- sonal approach, including Tracey, the Dental Nurse, who was sup- portive in every way. The lovely pleasant surroundings also made me feel so relaxed and reassured. During appointments, Peter always has time for questions- there was never a rush. And he explained things in simple terms, without be- ing patronising. He even walked me through the surgical procedure us- ing illustrations on an iPad, which helped a great deal. In the past, just before my appoint- ments I had often been too nervous to go through with the treatment but Peter had said, if this was to happen, it would be fine. Of course, it didn’t. The surgery itself went so smoothly and I was delighted with the results. Prior to my visit Peter had said, -tell me what you music you like, and I will have it ready;- and he programmed in Mozart for me. After the treatment, I looked in the mirror-and it was very strange- it was like having my smile and mouth back. I was over the moon. It looked so real- and felt very unusual not to have any gaps. Afterwards, I was looked after so well I felt that if anything went wrong, the whole team were availa- ble. Some people do the work and leave you to it- but the Dental Con- fidence team kept a close eye on me, and even emailed to make sure I was happy. I would definitely recommend Peter to anyone who has a fear of dentists. There is a website that specifically caters for dental-phobics like myself. I always like to look my best, but -before having implants- my teeth would let me down. As someone with a small jaw and an overcrowded mouth, I had constant problems. I had tried bridges, but after several gum problems, it had got to the point that I only had four good teeth remaining. I went to Dental Confidence to discuss having a full set of implants -and I am so glad I did. They have changed the whole way I feel about myself. It has now been seven years since I had them fitted. As soon as the implants were placed, I felt liberated and confident. Now, people have no idea I have implants, they just assume I have good teeth. Half way through the treatment, I moved to Cornwall and as it was such a long trek back to Southampton, I decided to try an implant dentist there – who also came highly recommended. Unfortunately, I experienced pain with that dentist, so I immediately called Dr Sanders, at Dental Confidence. I will never forget what he said to me, he said- come back to us- you know we dont do pain.” And so, I went back. I travelled from Cornwall to Southampton for each session of treatment. It took three and a half hours to get to there each time, but it was worth it. The customer service at Dental Confidence couldn’t be better. They are so helpful with any questions or problems, and the aftercare is wonderful. I trust them implicitly. They offer all the advice, help and support you need and are all such a warm and friendly team. I was also so impressed with Dr Sanders’ technical ability. He really is a first class dentist. His ability to make teeth, not only look nice, but to fit and work perfectly to suit each person, is amazing. The whole procedure was so well explained and painless- I have no fear of dental surgery but, If you were a nervous person, Peter would be the ideal dentist. He gives the patient so much confidence. He has great empathic concern, and understands you very well, taking time to listen and explain. He reassures you, and fully gains your trust. He also takes every opportunity to make you comfortable, using television screens, and playing your favourite music to pass the time. I think they are all very special people at Dental Confidence. There is a wonderful family touch to the practice that makes you feel so welcome. In fact as strange as it sounds, I almost love going to the dentist! I am absolutely delighted with my teeth. I feel attractive again. At the time of having implants it may seem expensive, but really, over time you reduce your dental bills- and it s not long before yo have caught up- so it pays off in the long run! I would recommend Dental Confidence 100%. I shudder when I hear about dental work, where people have bad experiences or treatment, or they try and save money by venturing abroad. I would happily offer my mobile number to speak with anyone that was considering implants or interested in the services Dental Confidence offers, and I would explain to them that they probably wont find a better implant centre.
