About

About us

Di Hall is offering a cognitive behaviour therapy counselling service to clients throughout the local area. This private practice can be found in the North part of Bristol. Cognitive behaviour therapy is a collaborative approach. Its aim is to facilitate individuals to become experts on themselves. Within a warm empathetic environment it enables the individual to enquire, search and discover new ways of responding to different blocks and dilemmas in life.
CBT enables the individual to examine the meaning, values and interpretations given to situations and circumstance. It works with thoughts, assumption/conditional assumption, core beliefs and schemas and illustrates how these are attributed to self. It entails putting words to thought and identifies maintaining cycles with the use of patterns and imagery.

Di works with all problems that frustrates and blocks the quality of well being. Some of these problems have been depression, anxiety/stress, phobic disorders, abuse/trauma, panic attacks, addiction/obsessive compulsive disorder, anger, separation/loss/bereavement, body dysmorphia, low self worth/confidence, personal development.

Di offers a safe place from which to move on in life, to explore, discover and experience the journey in life with greater understanding, meaning and awareness. The approach applied is both cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness. Cognitive therapy draws upon behavioural and rational emotive theories and focuses upon the individual's environment, thoughts, beliefs, behaviours and feelings. It recognises how easily one can be driven by emotion and passions rather than rational reasoning. Cognitive therapy enables the individual to stand back from a situation and explains how individuals can move forward and link new information to existing knowledge. Mindfulness brings attention to the experience of the moment and works with the acceptance and the willingness to be.

CBT techniques include cognitive rehearsal, imagery, exposure, relapse prevention, mindfulness and draws upon the individuals own resources. Sessions are fifty minuets long. A commitment to six sessions is normally required before a process of reviewing. Regular reviews take account of the accomplishments and process as well as the therapeutic relationship. Endings are a part of this process and sensitively planned. In exceptional circumstances negotiation and arrangements can be made to meet at alternative safe venues and/or home visits.

Di has been working as a Counsellor for a number of years. She has previously worked as a professional in both statutory sectors and is well trained. Di is registered with U. K. R. C. P and accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adheres to the ethical framework of good practise i.e. Supervision of work, professional development and insurance.

The business offers a professional and expert approach to counselling and therapy, which is designed to meet the British Association of Counselling/Psychotherapy framework and guidelines for practice. Using a welcoming and warm environment, the business also has that special quality to facilitate and enable clients to reach their full potential.
