Just popped in here after a visit to Carrickfergus Castle for a Guinness. Really lovely - it's got a wonderful sense of history and really nice staff. The Inn is the white building at the centre of the photograph - across the road from Wetherspoon's "Central Bar"

Dobbins Inn Hotel is a fantastic place to stop off for a meal, a drink or if necessary an overnight stay. The building itself has stood in Carrickfergus in one form or another since the 13th Century. The main bar in Dobbins is decorated with naval and seas fearing memorabelia from all over the world and has an amazing collection of Navy cap tallies from almost if not all ships of the Fleet. Good range of Lagers on offer on draught as well as bottled beers. As it is an Irish pub of course the Guinness on tap is excellent as is the Harp Extra Cold. Good range of wine and spirits available as well. All Drinks are reasonably priced for an independantly owned pub in the area. The Food is absolutely outstanding, all fresh ingredients all freshly cooked when ordered, a little on the pricey side perhaps for pub grub, but well worth it once it arrives. Early Bird Menu between 6 and 7 lets two people eat from a fixed menu for £10 which means you get the great food cheaper than the normal menu price so it removes even that small issue. Overall though the best thing about Dobbin's must be it's staff. Ever time I have been there they have seemed happy to be there, and happy to see me, smiling, and providing fast and efficient service. If you are in Carrickfergus there is no better place for a fun relaxing drink, or a good meal if you need a little more than just liquid refreshment. :)
