MOT on the DOT

A unbiased MOT centre. They don't do work on vehicles so do not benefit from telling anyone about problems, plus there's a free retest so again, nothing more to be earned.I went in last week for my MOT, I rang on the Wednesday and got an appointment for late on Saturday morning, not bad and the receptionist was quite polite and flexible.I went in on Saturday, running slightly late, which they had no problems with and they have done the MOT in a very short time whilst I waited.It failed, on a tyre and I had until the need of the next working day, Monday, to being it back for a free retest. I'm guessing the shortened time is because I have a slightly older car which might in fact develop some sort of fault in a short time, as is the nature of cars. So this would mean they would fulfill their legal obligation by only retesting the the failed part instead of costing themselves money by having to do a full retest. That seems fair to me.So I whizzed off to get a new tyre and had the car back to them first thing on Monday morning. I'd barely sat down to wait when I was told it had passed and given the test certificate.I'd also had a bulb out at the back but this didn't earn me a fail because one of the bonus aspects of DOT MOT is that they increase the price slightly to incorporate small fixes like this. I knew about the bulb but didn't need to worry as I knew they would deal with on the spot.I paid £49.95, which is comparatively expensive yet I'm satisfied with that because the chances of me passing without visiting another garage for repairs, is much higher due to the in house repairs.They've just begun doing services, apparently at customers requests. Which seems a great idea, though I haven't had one.You can also earn £15 off your next MOT if you recommend a friend who has something done there.£49.95 is perhaps a little too high, Peugeot are currently doing £25 MOTs on ALL cars and a bulb is less than £5 but for minimum hassle, sometimes it is well worth it.
