Learner Driver Training

We provide learner drivers with safe informative and enjoyable training in all aspects of vehicle control and handling. Our friendly driving instructors have many years of professional experience and are able to impart the neccessary knowledge at a pace suitable to each individuals needs. At DPA we set out to make the experience of learning to drive not only safe and speedy but also enjoyable. We provide help and support in all aspects of the process starting with the Hazard Perception/Multiple choice test through to the driving test and beyond to pass plus and motorway driving.

The Driving Test

Your driving test will start with an eyesight check and some vehicle safety questions. The driving part of your test will last about 40 minutes. Throughout the test your examiner will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving, including when you are carrying out the set exercises. You can make up to 14 minor driving faults and still pass the test (15 or more results in failure). However, if you commit one serious or dangerous fault you will fail the test.

A new investigation reveals that up to 75,000 learners have in the last year been taught by an instructor they didn't know was a trainee.
In a survey of 2,000 young drivers, only 2 per cent believed they had been taught to drive by a trainee instructor. However, recent figures from the Driving Standards Agency show that one in every ten pupils who thought their instructor was fully-qualified, were in fact taught by trainees. With 750,000 people learning to drive each year. This would suggests that there are up to 75,000 learners a year who do not realise their instructor is also learning on the job.

Intensive Course

Intensive courses for new drivers are normally completed over a 10 day period Monday to Friday 4 hours per day covering 40 hours tuition, a further 3 hours are allowed prior to the test and 1 hour for the period of the test itself. We can of course tailor your course to suit your needs and experience, it may be that you have had some tuition and need a few days intensive training to bring you to test standard or you may have recently failed a test and need some intensive training prior to the next test date. Pass Plus

Statistics prove that the risk of having an accident is highest during the first 2 years of driving after passing the driving test. This is why the Government launched the Pass Plus programme. Backed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and major motor insurance companies, it is designed to help new drivers gain more experience and become better equipped for the demands of modern driving.

After completion you will be able to obtain a discount from many insurance companies, subject to your personal circumstances.
