Nigel Sprent is aged 57, married with two children, and has been practising hypno-psychotherapy since 1983. He has a B.A. degree in psychology from Exeter University; and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in psychology from the University of Hull.

He trained initially as hypnotherapist with the Association for Applied Hypnosis in 1982, and later with the National College for Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (NCHP) from 1996-98: including training in psychoanalytic approaches, cognitive therapy, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. He is currently a tutor on NCHP training courses in London and Oxford, and also teaches psychology. He is registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.

He practised for 20 years at the Park End Clinic in Oxford, and now sees clients at his home at 145 Iffley Road in Oxford, where on-street car parking is usually available.
