Drum Teacher Matt Dean Surrey and Hampshire

Matt has been playing drums professionally since leaving music college and obtaining a 1st Class BA (Hons) degree in the process.

He has played internationally for a number of artists in a diverse array of styles as well as gaining great experience in hte recording studio. He now also runs his own drum studio and carries out recording sessions for artists around the world.

He also successfully wrote, recorded and produced a drum loop sample album and subsequently sold the copyright to Loopasonic TM (The Sonica Group), and appeared in the latest SONY WALKMAN advert.

He's also enjoyed freelance writing success with publications such as 'Modern Drummer', 'Rhythm', 'International Musician', ‘Drumscene' and ‘Making Music'; as well as seeing his book published titled THE DRUM: A HISTORY

QUALIFICATIONS
Tutored in various Master classes and courses by some of the Industry's finest drummers. These include Mike Sturgis (Asia, Ah-ha, Wishbone Ash), Pete Riley (Republica), Bill Bruford (King Crimson, Yes, Earthworks) Bosco De Oliveira (Europe's leading Brazilian percussion teacher), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers), Mark Richardson (Skunk Anansie, Feeder), Steve Washington (Take That, Texas, Wet Wet Wet), JR Robinson (Michael Jackson, Randy Crawford), Andy Gangadeen (The Spice Girls, The Bays) and more.

Matt tailores drum lessons to suit the student. All grade exam preparation is covered in the lessons when required.
Matt teaches from a custom built drum studio in Farnham/Surrey. In this soundproofed studio he has acoustic and electronic drum kits, as well as keyboards and full drum recording equipment permanently set up.

This allows the student to benefit from recording their drumming to build up a show reel, or just to listen back to and learn from. It's also great fun.

With his drum recording facility, keyboards and library of drum backing tracks he is also able to help the students work on recording studio techniques, grooves, timing, reading and all specific techniques involved for each style of music.
