Eclipse bathrooms has changed a lot since 2006 and 2007 when they worked on the total refection of 2 bathrooms in our guest house. Most of the qualified personnel have left. They are now the closest entity to a rogue trader. I made the unbelievable mistake to call them back in order to change a towel rail and 2 shower bars. In 3 different rooms. During the fitting of a shower bar in our bedroom 6, I noticed things on the floor and asked “what is that?” and the plumber said “They are reductions, I took them off to increase the flow” As I’m far from being a plumber and thinking that I was (still) in good hands, I cleaned behind the guy and gave him the raiser and the shower head, provided with the shower bar by Aqualisa, as he was supposed to have a use for them and I was just needing to have the shower bars changed. We paid the invoice £622 +vat… So £746.40. The towel rail works fine. But on the day that followed I had cold water at my hot water tap in the kitchen and customers complained that they had no Hot water in their showers. I started to think about it and I thought after a few days that there was a backfill of cold water, which has a greater pressure, inside the hot water system. I remembered the “reductions” and I called to have them back here to refit what I thought at the time were “reductions” They simply refused to come and sort the problem out as they said “it’s impossible” I called two other times, they said they would come, they didn’t and left our case there. This is already inexcusable. I thought to myself that the cold water would fill up a bit the cylinder until parity of the pressures, but the things went a bit further: overnight, the back fill made the two In-charge tanks, in the loft, over flow and that’s how we discover that the overflow pipe in place since 1992, date of the construction of the house, was not PVC glued and we had a leak on the ceiling of a bedroom. (not their fault) Still having complaints from my guests and cold water on my hot water tap we decide to call another company to sort the leak and they installed non return valves on the cylinder. But I still had cold water on my kitchen tap, that is on the same “T” deserving the two bedrooms, with the shower bars changed. We still had some water leaking through the overflow pipe, from the in-charge tanks, on our roof. In the end the new plumber REMOVED the two shower bars fitted by eclipse, capped them off and the new plumber told me, while dismantling them, that the Non-return valves fitted as standard on the shower bars have been removed. I knew from then that what they called “reductions” were in fact non-return valves. And that might have been the problem. To be really sure, I entered in contact with Aqualisa, send pictures, asked questions, and they CONFIRMED that non-return valves had been removed, that the two bars now were out of guaranty because of that, and that those non return valves were not available as spares... Once capped, the backfill stopped, we’ve found the culprits, our theory was backed up by a professional plumber AND Aqualisa themselves. We fitted 2 new Brista shower bars in place and everything went back to normal. How surprising! THAT IS NOW THE FUN PART. I send a few messages (all on record) to eclipse, including the e-mail from Aqualisa, PROVING the bad fitting of the shower bars and asked for a refund of the two shower bars and telling them that they could have the two shower bars back, to have the use they wanted for them, as we proved where the fault was coming from. We had no answers for those messages. NOT ONE answers, to the messages on their phone. Totally inexcusable one more time. I was feeling a bit screwed and ignored, having paid good money to face Big problems and facing scorn from this company. I left a review on their facebook page, (note that the company does not have a web site anymore, nor an e-mail address) Then, and ONLY then, the phone rang: I had an hysterical yelling interlocutor that physically menaced me because of the review, refused to listen to my point, spending his time insulting me and saying “WE are coming to have a feckin’ conversation, wiz ya mate” The police has been called the case is Number 323 from 09/12/2020 and I asked him again to get out of this story by accepting his fault and refunding the taps and their fitting and come to pick them up. Which, you will guess it, has remained without an answer. To avoid like pest, Covid, cholera and syphilis COMBINED.
