Brass Teacher

I am a young musician with Grade 8 distinction on trombone. I have always enjoyed music, having been a member of many local music ensembles for the past ten years. My ensemble work has helped me improve greatly as a musician, and helped me to understand the methods and techniques required to both learn and teach an instrument.

I have been fortunate enough to partake in workshops and masterclasses with some great musicians, such as; Courtney Pine, Wynton Marsalis, the BBC Big Band and Sowetto Kinch. I have also been taught by Scott Stroman, the Professor of jazz studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Gordon Campbell, the lead trombonist of the BBC Big Band, who have allowed me to further understand the techniques required in playing a brass instrument and in different styles of music.

I have helped many beginner brass musicians learn how to play as part of as an ensemble in some of my local orchestras and wind bands, also helping them to improve on their chosen instrument. I also play the euphonium at a grade 7/8 standard and have the capabilities to teach trumpet, cornet and tuba.

I am available to teach most week evenings and at weekends. Fees and length of lessons are negotiable. We have a sound proof music studio next to out house or I am able to travel to the pupil's home depending on which is easier.

I teach from very beginners to grade 8 level in both classical and jazz for both serious musicians and those who just want to have fun and enjoy music! Lessons will be designed for the individual pupil and may include some music theory, sight reading and aural work, as well as a specific style of music, depending on the needs of the student. Pupil's must have their own instruments.
