2011 was an outstanding year in the life of all at Ellowes Hall Sports College in Gornal, culminating in record A-Level and GCSE results in August and the official opening of their new Sports Hall early in September.

About Us

2011 was the 7th consecutive year that GCSE results improved. 97% of students gained 5 or more A*-C passes with a very impressive 75% also gaining English and Mathematics. Almost one in four entries were A*/A grades and an overall GCSE pass rate of 99%. This ranks them as one of the leading comprehensives in the Black Country. Those students taking A-Levels in their Sixth Form also enjoyed a record-breaking time too, with their highest ever average points score (268); over a quarter of entries receiving A and A* grades; 74% with A*-C passes – not to mention a 100% pass rate in every subject.
September 16th marked the opening of their magnificent new Sports Hall, complementing their recently completed floodlit 3G astro turf pitches. It is an 8 badminton court sized hall, with extensive changing facilities that can also house simultaneously two basketball or netball matches. It has cricket nets and provision for football and volleyball as well an area for viewing games.
