What is relaxation therapy and why is it important?
It is a mentally active process that helps to relieve stress and tension leaving the body and mind relaxed, calm and focused. It relieves physical symptoms such as aches and pains and helps you cope with life's ups and downs. Relaxation is essential to wellbeing as it is only while you are in a deeply relaxed state or sleeping that your body can repair and heal the damage caused by today's busy lifestyle. A relaxed mind is a healthy mind that will encourage greater self-awareness and help you organise and manage a hectic lifestyle.
Relaxation therapy is simple and should be practiced regularly to be of benefit to your health and wellbeing. I can help you to choose a relaxation technique that is specific to your needs, preferences, fitness level and the way you tend to react to stress. The relaxation session will be tailored to your needs by combining different techniques to keep you motivated and provide you with the best results. Relaxation techniques include progressive muscle relaxation, visualisation, guided imagery, mindfulness, breathing exercises, guided meditation, hands on therapy, colour therapy and aromatherapy.
