About
The Family Martial Arts Academy is a full time Martial Arts centre.
We pride ourselves on our friendly atmosphere and the extensive facilities and training we have to offer.
Our students are able to start training from as young as 5yrs old, with dedicated classes for Juniors, Youths and Adults. Many have already competed and won at world level.
Martial Arts is fantastic for improving self esteem, fitness, developing strength and flexibility, confidence, self-defence skills & releasing stress & the list goes on.
The Family Martial Arts Academy is fully insured and registered. Full Members of the:
UK Martial Arts Advisory Commission World-il-do-kwan federation,
Korean Hapkido and Yudo Association in Seoul South Korea,
British Council For Korean Martial Arts, UKMAF,
BTUM
and the World Head Council of International Styles, Kobe Japan.
The Academy also has Centre Status with Edexcel and the OCR to deliver Government Recognised Instructor training and qualifications.
We pride ourselves on the fact that through the knowledge and experience of Master De Bretton and the teaching and training methods he has developed are producing first class martial artists and his students are widely respected for their ability and attitude. Not to mention the 1st class facilities available to all our Members.
Master De Bretton has trained for over 32 years in a number of different systems attaining 5th Dan Black Belts in Hapkido and Taekwondo as well as Black Belt or higher & is a skilled in over 10 Weapons.
Recognised as a Master Instructor with the World-il-do-kwan federation,
Korean Hapkido and Yudo Association in Seoul South Korea, British Council For Korean Martial Arts, UKMAF, BTUM and the World Head Council of International Styles, Kobe Japan.

I visited Master Oliver De Brettons martial arts academy and was very impressed by the high level of knowledge, instruction and understanding of Martial Arts which is taught there, not to mention the superb facilities and friendly atmosphere. I am now a member and would recommend the Academy to anybody.

Family Martial Arts Academy! any1 heard of it?
hi, i just want to say that i have been training with Master Oliver De Bretton now for 4 to 5 years, and think he has done an excellent job. he pushes you for more, making you achieve your highest. niot too long ago oliver moved his club from many places to just one place which is now the proud home of JDKKI, TKD. He's been training for 30 odd years, so i think u can say he's well up there! hehe! anyway, if your into it, then try it, its great fun and healthy. have fun!

Southampton has a World Class Master
Over the many years I have been involved in the Martial Arts I have allways felt that we (meaning the western students) never get taught the whole story of martial arts. Well this I am delighted to say is no longer true. I am a Martial Arts Master Instructor form Bristol and have been training for over 30 years had the great fourtune to host a Seminar conducted by Master Oliver De Bretton from Southampton. The topic for the seminar was pressure points and body mecanice in relation to the Martial Arts. I had over 30 of my students attend and WOW I have never seen a Martial Arts Instructor able to demonstrate, explain and give vareations of this technical understanding before. It all made so much sence and whats even more impressive was that there was no need for strength just knowledge. Don't grt me wrong I have seen this type of skill before but never would the Grandmaster tell you how, why or what was involved in getting you to be able to do it your self. This is the differance.
