Broken spring on my car forced me to call my independent breakdown insurance. FARC allocated the recovery who attended a mere 20 minutes later on a Sunday. Clean presentable truck with Richard driving. Very courteous professional service. Highly recommended.

I was subjected to atrocious service by Fife Accident Repair Limited in relation to a white Toyota Aygo vehicle registration SL17 BZT which this company had impounded unlawfully on Saturday afternoon 31st March, 2018. I had had the car on loan from Bodywyse in Kirkcaldy but broke down on the A92 while travelling west bound at about 3.15pm. I left the car close to the verge and off the carriageway while I went for help but when I returned barely an hour later, the car had disappeared. Neither the company nor the police who instructed them made any effort to contact Bodywyse to alert them to the situation even though the name Bodywyse is emblazoned all over the car and I only found out they had the vehicle at all when I called the police to report it stolen. The company's staff were extremely unhelpful but I was advised that as it was not my car someone from Bodywyse would have to claim and recover the vehicle not me, and that Bodywyse would have to produce proof of ownership and their member of staff would have to provide ID. Bodywyse duly contacted them and notified them that I had the car with their authority and so I attended their premises with proof of their lease of the car but I was refused the car because I didn't have my licence even though I had been told it was not my ID they required ! I was even told I should have made an appointment to recover my car even though I had not been advised of this by telephone. To add insult to injury the company apparently do not accept payments by debit or credit card which shows how antiquated their system is and the garage had to issue a cheque. I was told none of this by the receptionist when I called him on the previous Saturday, and their manager/owner who dealt with me on Thursday when I was at their premises had the audacity to lie and tell me I had been informed of all of this in advance which I had not. Indeed the manager who dealt with me was rude, unprofessional and worst of all took great relish in being as unhelpful as he possibly could. They may have the police contract for this kind of work but they are still a service provider and have a duty of care to anyone using their company. Finally, their charges are exorbitant as is common knowledge among the many members of the public who have had their vehicles held to ransom by them will testify. I was charged £504 to remove a small car from the A92 close to Lochgelly to their unit in Randolph Industrial Estate and store it for 5 days which is utterly scandalous. I was told by their call handler that the charge was higher because the car was locked but I can't imagine many people would leave a vehicle insecure at the roadside and I just don't accept that as any justification. This company is a disgrace and are clearly taking advantage of vulnerable people by effectively blackmailing them to recover their property or in this case the property of Bodywyse which they knew well I had their authority to drive.
