First Studio UK is a photographic studio providing a professional and personal service, run by professional photographer David Jewill. First established in 1983, we are based in the Plymouth and Torpoint area and cover Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall in the UK.

Our services include Portrait, Model Portfolios, Glamour, Lingerie, Boudoir and Makeover photography, both in the studio and on location.

We offer basic lessons in studio Portrait and Glamour style photography for both amateur and beginner photographers. Charges are by the hour and include the use of the studio and all equipment. You are welcome to bring your own models or we can provide these for you.

About David

David Jewill has worked as a photographer for a number of country sports publications, including Shooting News, Sporting Dog, The Gamekeeper and the nation's number one tabloid newspaper in the sector The Countryman's Weekly.

A gamekeeper by profession, he found his daily activities constantly gave him photographic opportunities and he was eventually contracted to provide a monthly picture service for the newspaper, enabling the editorial department to constantly update its picture library with fresh material so there were always images in stock to illustrate features and new items.

David has photographic service in his home town in Cornwall providing items for local newspapers and photographing such things as portrait, model, glamour and art style work in his studio. He has also had a national presence through a modelling magazine.

As a countryside photographer he has had much experience photographing animals and many breeds of dog and his work has ranged from landscapes on sporting estate to close-ups of shotgun engraving and shooting accessories.

Starting off as a news photographer producing black and white images in a darkroom ‘the hard way,' he has successfully made the switch to digital photography. While he now has the latest equipment and the flexibility that digital media brings, he has a wealth of practical experience in the field that is simply irreplaceable. Photography Courses

In the past few years the cost of studio lighting has fallen dramatically and for a very modest outlay you can set up your own studio at home. Here's your chance to work with studio lighting and have our expert help and advice to hand. Studio time can be used when booking a lesson with myself at the studio for portrait or glamour style work. Learn studio flash lighting and develop your understanding of studio technique. Lessons are for basic studio lighting for Portrait and Glamour style work. We offer studio tuition for beginners and amateur photographers at very competitive rates. The teaching is presented in an easy to understand and relaxed and entertaining manner. You will walk away from this workshop with the skills to develop and improve your studio and portrait technique.
