Destroyed our Wedding 31st March 2013

We approached Fleurtations to provide flowers for our wedding at Leez Priory in Essex on the 31st of March 2013. The in-shop experience was a pleasant one, we were treated exceptionally well and led to believe they were going to provide an outstanding service. However the truth of the matter was absolutely inexcusable and atrocious whilst their response, lack of customer service and refusal to accept any liability for the situation somewhat astonishing. It had been agreed that Fleurtations were to deliver flowers to the venue on the morning of the 31st and decorate the cake as discussed in the shop. As ‘Fail-safe’ they were provided with a photograph of our cake and how we wanted it decorating. However at aprox 11:00 I received a 3 concerned voicemails from the venue and my wife advising that the cake was only partially decorated despite the ceremony being at 14:00. Having tried unsuccessfully to contact Fleurtations at least 8 times we were left with no option but to go to the only place open and able to supply flowers on a bank holiday weekend, this being a local Tesco petrol station. Having looked at the cake myself, I was absolutely shocked and astonished as to how they could put the flowers around the cake yet leave the polystyrene separators fully exposed?! Not only adding further stress to an already anxious morning, but overall embarrassment as we had family and friends arriving who could clearly see there was an issue. It is abhorrent to think that we were contacted by Leez Priory at such a late hour whilst on our way to the venue to say that the flowers that had been delivered left a lot to be desired and that could we try and purchase flowers so that they could improve the situation. This request was exceptionally worrying as it was not only a Sunday but also a Bank Holiday when most florists or supermarkets would be closed. It was also not the responsibility of Leez Priory to try and make good a situation which should have been remedied by Fleurtations who had left them in that state. In fact, they should have realised that there was a problem and made moves to either obtain more flowers to cover the polystyrene or at least been contactable knowing that there was a serious issue which could only be resolved by that person or someone with keys to a florist shop. To compound matters, we were further bewildered at condition of both the buttons holes and brides bouquet all of which appeared to be in the stages of premature wilting and browning. Can you imagine the anger felt when I saw my bride walking down the isle with a bouquet that looked like it was dying and beginning to fall apart in front of 60 guests? In addition and some 45 minutes later my own, button hole, the corsages and our 6 year olds’ mini bouquet started shedding petals, again causing further distress to all concerned. No matter what was paid, a contract was made to supply the requested flowers and this was not adhered to when this should have been their top priority on such an important day. People were able to see that the flowers were of poor quality and presentation and this did not bode well for either wedding photos or comments which were made by guests as to where we obtained the flowers, a subject of tongue-in-cheek humiliation and questions as to whether you obtained them from a petrol station? Ironically, some of them were!!! Fleurtations’ response to our complaint was somewhat unbelievable as they refused to accept any form of liability for the situation whatsoever!!!! It was all our fault. We were even accused of damaging the flowers ourselves and told, (Quote), “I have no idea what you expected to get for that money” and (Quote) “We are a an award winning florist, for our customer services” What was agreed and charged should bear no relevance whatsoever to the quality of service for which Fleurtations were appointed to provide. Whether we paid £10.00 or £10,000, the fact is they entered in to a formal contract to provide a service and at no point did they ever raise concerns about the quote or service prior to the day based on a reflection of the costs involved or quoted. Fleurtations failed to make themselves available and left us all in a state of utter limbo. Surely as a business, they would make all efforts to satisfy their clients and the event of a problem takes ownership of the situation and provide a suitable outcome on the day… Apparently not! Whilst we didn’t spend thousands on the flowers, we did save vigorously for 2 years to make this the most precious day of our lives and a day to remember for ever more. We have made so many sacrifices along the way and to be let down in this manner wad unacceptable, intolerable and almost offensive. Whilst we certainly wouldn’t use them again or recommend them going forward, we leave it up to you to decide if you would take this sort of risk on such an important day. In they event anyone requires photos of their scandalous work, please feel free to email at: shaunmillen@hotmail.com
