Great honest service & pricing

Took my car for an MOT around a year ago along with a full service - MOT brought up a note about the brake hoses but this was advisory and didnt try and rush me into getting the work done but advised a recommended time / mileage scale. Service price was very competitive and discovered that the car had been running badly due to very corroded spark plugs - felt like a totally new car after the service!

While I was away in the USA my wife's would not start. A friend recomended Fred Brown - they came out the same morning repaired the car with a new battery and bought it back the same day. Truly fantastic service and a very reasonable price. The car needs a new door lock so I will have no reservation intaking it back to them for this repair I have no hesitation in recomending their excellent service

Outstanding service from an independant garage

I had been using a main dealership - Bristol Street Motors - for all servicing and repairs to my car (fooled by an extended warranty), I wanted to instead use a local independantly owned garage for the 60K mile service. Despite their small size, Fred Browns fitted me in much sooner than others in the area (within 2 days of calling). I was extremely impressed by the service I received here, and the cost was very competitive. The person who spoke to me when I picked up the car had been personally working on my car, and could clearly explain the work that had been carried out, and the smaller issues that he had identified. In my case, the car needed A LOT of gearbox oil (the main dealership - Bristol Street Motors - that I had used to rebuild my gearbox 2 months earlier had failed to put any/enough in there). They did not charge anything for the new oil, but very reasonably charged £2.50 for disposing of the old oil inline with environmental regulations. All of my windscreen wipers needed replaced - I had known this for a while - and they did this at a cost of £11 for three wipers; apparently not charging any labour costs for this. I had some concerns that a small garage may not have the computer equipment required to reset the service indicator light, but I was happily proved wrong. My car now runs much better than it ever did coming out of the main dealer mentioned. It's also worth noting that they tightened up my handbreak (it needed doing) without mentioning it or putting it on the invoice - this job alone at Bristol Street has cost me over £30 previously. This is a VERY COMPETENT and HONEST garage, and I wholeheartedly recommend their services - I'll certainly be using them again.
