Wigan & Leigh Hospice provides free of charge specialist palliative care to over 900 people with a life-limiting illness every year.

A registered charity, we are funded mainly through the donations and support of local people.

We are based in Hindley, near Wigan, and have 13 shops throughout the borough, all of which are staffed by volunteers.

We provide expert individualised care and support within our Hospice which features 14 inpatient beds, a Day Hospice, complementary therapy suites, counselling rooms, outpatient clinics and access to physiotherapy and occupational health.

Our Hospice Nurse Specialist team and Hospice In Your Home team work in the community helping people living with life-limiting illnesses in their own homes. In May 2014 we opened our new Woodview Centre which will allow the expansion of both of these teams and will enable us to support even more people in our community.

We take into consideration the physical needs of our patients but also their emotional and spiritual needs. We can help with practical information, such as knowing where to go for financial advice or home adaptations, and work closely with other healthcare professionals involved in our patients\u2019 care.

We also care for the families and carers of our patients offering them counselling and therapies.
